Middle of September, already? Fall starts next week. Sigh…..My heart goes out to all of the people in Boulder and the outlying areas impacted by those insanely destructive rain waters that just don’t stop. When I saw the range of devastation, it was mind-boggling. Like monsoon season in Asia-bad. Thoughts and prayers go out. Hitting Sally’s Army with clothes marked for that region…..Meanwhile, anyone out there like me who’s bracing for the final two episodes of Breaking Bad? Ugh, hating that it’s almost over. But I gotta tell ya, had me starting to watch Under The Dome! Dean Norris is a star!….. Pulse of Radio reports Pearl Jam’s recently released the song “Mind Your Manners” is a hard-edged track with a punk feel, and guitarist Mike McCready said that was exactly what he was going for: “I was just kind of in a mood of like, ‘Let me try to write a punk rock song,’ and the guys kind of backed me up on it and Ed (Vedder, singer) sort of gravitated toward it, and I wanted to kind of channel the feeling of a Dead Kennedys‘ type idea. So yeah, I came up with the riff and the idea, and I threw it into the machine that is our band, and it just came out. And I was very surprised that it became the first single.” The video for “Mind Your Manners” is only the 11th video the band’s made in the past 22 years of their career. Watch it here. (Special thanks to 99.3 The Fox in Vancouver.)….I had NO IDEA my ole pal Stephen Richards of Taproot had been experiencing seizures! But honestly, I am not surprised! The first time I ever saw the band and Stephen leapt off the second floor balcony ledge into the audience, even though it was a spectacle and thrilling and all, I knew that couldn’t be a good thing. My friend Liz over at Loudwire did an interview with Stephen on the 13th anniversary of Taproot’s Gift album, and you can read it here…..Happy 88th today to blues guitar legend B.B. King.
