Have you ever had a fly in your house and you just can’t catch it? This one has been in my apartment for DAYS now! I am actually watching it grow larger! (It was small when it moved in here in Morningside Heights.) I’ve attempted to swat it with magazines and newspapers, only to fail miserably. It buzzes around my head, making me even more determined to catch it. I know it’s mocking me. It watches my every move, likes to try the food I’m eating, and is probably leaving little fly doo doos everywhere. I AM GOING CRAZY!!!! Any suggestions how to kill this beast?…..Let’s start out with some good news for the folks in Colorado! In light of the recent flood disaster, a local duo, Big Gigantic, is teaming up with local friends, artists and organizations to benefit flood relief efforts. The recent data on the severe impact of the flooding is astounding. As of now, 17,494 homes have been damaged, 1,502 homes have been destroyed, 11,700 people have been evacuated, 1,253 people are still unaccounted for, 8 people have lost their lives and 520 are in emergency shelters. Not to mention, the area’s water supply has been threatened with contaminiation from local fracking! (Why do they allow that?) This is a very serious and pressing concern for Colorado residents and it is something we all need to come together on. Big Gigantic will be playing an already scheduled two‐night run with a show at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver on Friday, Sep 27 followed by Rowdytown II at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison on Saturday, September 28. Both of these shows will be Flood Relief Benefit Shows. The band and promoters will be giving a portion of the proceeds from both shows to Conscious Alliance’s flood relief fund, which is set to help provide basic necessities to community members affected by the floods. Conscious Alliance will be on site at the Fillmore and Red Rocks, collecting food and monetary donations as well as new or lightly used clothing, cleaning and household items. At this time, pasta meals & canned meats are the most requested food items – organic options are always encouraged. The most requested personal & household items are toiletries, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. Hopefully other artists will pitch in in this dire time of need!.. My boys Korn posted some snippets on InstaGram of two songs from The Paradigm Shift, and OH YEAH, they freakin’ rawk! Here’s one of my fav tunes on the album called “Spike in My Veins.” And here’s one for “Prey For Me.” They did ’em on the set of the video for “Never Never” with Giovanni Bucci. I wanna meet that dude. If I was still repping video directors, I would cut my right arm off to work with him! Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see them perform these suckers LIVE! And a big F-U to the haters! Meanwhile, and I don’t know why Revolver doesn’t have it on their website yet, but the new issue features Korn on the cover like you’ve never seen them before! It cracked me up! I had to email Head! HILARIOUS! Great article by Jon Weiderhorn.…. OK, yes, I am seeing Metallica on Saturday night and those of you who have satellite radio (yes, I said it) can listen in, and God bless the band, they are geniuses at marketing, and yes, I think I will be making Christmas a little more metal with THIS. If it’s on their merch table at the Apollo, I am getting one for sure! I don’t care WHAT it costs! LOL. Check out Metallica performing “Master of Puppets” from Metallica: Through the Never here. The soundtrack, which hits Tuesday, looks amazing and unfolds into a cross. Awesome! (Thanks Pulse and Blabbermouth!)…..Posted tour dates in Road Rage for Sevendust with Asking Alexandria, All That Remains, Emmure and For Today. Runs Oct 22-Nov 22…..Celebrating birthdays: Today, Soundgarden’s Ben Shepherd is 45 and va va voom Sophia Loren is 79. God bless her.
