Good morning! Now I haven’t watched last night’s Breaking Bad or Ray Donovan yet, and barely watched any of the Emmys, but despite my friends’ posts on Facebook, I must be the only one who LIKED the series finale of Dexter. I did! I am happy the door is open! I am! Although I am NOT ready to let the Breaking Bad story end. That is going to be really hard for me and no matter what they do, I don’t know if Sundays will be the same, even when Walking Dead returns. So there ya go…..So Saturday night’s Metallica show at the Apollo Theater here in NYC was nothing short of incredible! Many thanks to the fine folks at QPrime who gave me tix and a lovely hang before the show. And the satellite folks did a great job at putting on a cool event with FREE wine and beer and hors d’oeuvres. Had the Bullet For My Valentine tour manager and fiance for the hardDrive Live Tour in tow from England. They were stoked to be there too. Here are some clips for ya. “Sad But True” and “One.” Tons of friends there, and we were all supposed to hang after the show ’til the dude behind me spilled not one, but TWO beers down my back! As my BF said, “You smell like 1972.” Inside joke. Anyhow, that put the dampers on this gal, who luckily didn’t have to travel too far to get home from the Apollo. But the show was great! Meanwhile, the rumors Metallica would perform at Yankee Stadium (again) came true as the team honored star closer Mariano Rivera! The band performed its classic song “Enter Sandman” to honor retiring Yankees pitcher prior to their game against the San Francisco Giants — who happen to be Metallica’s hometown team. Rivera, who’s calling it quits after nearly two decades with the Yanks, has been coming out of the bullpen to close out games for many years to “Enter Sandman” playing on the stadium’s P.A. system. According to the Daily News, frontman James Hetfield gave a shout-out to Rivera, “This one’s for you Mariano,” before singing the song’s famous first line, “Say your prayers little one…” Metallica’s amps featured the band’s name in the classic Yankees logo font, along with Rivera’s number 42 and “Sandman” visible on stage. Hetfield also used a special, pinstriped guitar pick with number 42 on it. Check out photos of Metallica’s appearance from Getty Images. This morning Metallica will perform on the Howard Stern Show, in the 8 AM hour, and they will sit down for an interview and perform on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report on tomorrow (Sep 24), according to Blabbermouth. You can check your local listings for your cable provider’s channel number and the time the show will air. The band is on the promotional trail for its new 3-D movie, Metallica Through The Never, which opens this Friday (Sep 27th) on IMAX screens before expanding to more theaters on Oct 4th….A video has been posted online of Nirvana performing the song “Scentless Apprentice” off the band’s third and final studio release, In Utero. The clip is from the upcoming concert DVD, Live And Loud, which is included with the 20th anniversary deluxe edition of In Utero that arrives on tomorrow (Sep 24th). The DVD features the band’s full show at Seattle’s Pier 48 on Dec 13, 1993, plus never-before-released bonus material, while the reissue will offer over 70 remastered, remixed, rare and unreleased recordings, including B-sides, compilation tracks, demos and live material….Celebrating a birthday today: The Boss, Bruce Springsteen is 64! And belated congrats to Jacoby and Kelly Shaddix who welcomed Brixton Gabriel into the world on Tue, Sep 17th! He joins brothers Jagger and Makaile.
