KORN! Korn were in the hardDrive studios here in NYC yesterday and after sharing hugs and pizza, we got down to the nitty gritty. Videoed the 60 minutes with the band, so hopefully once it gets all edited, we can post it for ya. All the members were there. At times it was like herding cats, but it went great! Meanwhile, to get in the mood, check this out, their hour plus set from Rock Im Ring from this summer over in Germany. (You’re welcome.) The largest audience I’ve seen the band play in front of was Woodstock ’99. That was around 100K. It was funny because I asked the band about playing in China and asked if they had to submit a list to the Chinese promoter before doing the show. They said they didn’t, but they played in the same venue Metallica did recently and ‘Tallica had to and were told there were songs they weren’t allowed to perform. Weird. OK, so what else is happening today?….Rob Zombie, who will be touring with Korn in November, has his Great American Nightmare beginning next month in Pomona for two weeks, and now Black Sabbath is being paid homage with a new 3-D maze at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights event. SoCal Theme Parks 360 has uploaded a five-minute walk-through of “Black Sabbath: 13 3D”, which is described as “terrifying.” The maze is reportedly based on the darkest lyrics from Black Sabbath’s biggest hit songs, taking visitors through graveyards, madhouses and battlefields. Scenes were also inspired by the group’s latest album, 13. “Black Sabbath: 13 3D” is the only attraction at the Halloween event featuring 3D video. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood runs on select nights through Nov 2nd….In celebration of his 44th birthday on Tuesday (Sep 24th), Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan released the first in a limited-edition series of “clown” masks. Crahan says he plans to make this an annual thing only on his birthday. He told blabbermouth.net, “As you know, I’ve tried to get some masks out to the public and it hasn’t quite yet added up to everything I wanted to be. Now I’m collaborating with a friend named Jason Kain and we are going to bring you the new way in clownology. I’m going to put masks out every year with a new story. . . In the near future, you will receive the story behind clown001.” Only 50 Clown001 masks are available to the public, and each costs a whopping $500. The masks are reportedly hand-painted, so no two will be exactly alike. The first one is really creepy : Check it out on the Slipknot site. Crahan says creating each mask takes two to three days to complete. As far as new Slipknot music goes, Crahan says there’s still nothing in the works. He told Kerrang! magazine, “When I come back, when we come back, it will be time, you will understand, we will understand, and it will be right. We’ll be the first band that could be off for five years and come back like we never were gone. So that’s what it’s all about.” And just in time for Halloween….Slash and Myles Kennedy are set to perform a new song “Nothing Left To Fear” tonight, Thursday, Sep 26 on “Conan,” airing at 11:00 PM/10:00 PM CT on TBS.
