Had a swell evening last night at a charity event for the TJ Martell Foundation. They raise money for cancer, Aids and leukemia research founded by the late music industry executive Tony Martell. So last night’s event was their annual World Tour of Wine. (And I think that wine is still touring around my stomach this morning!) Robin Quivers was one of the honorees and she deserves all the love in the world after what she has been through beating her cancer. Many music industry presidents and executives were in attendance. Including the managers for Metallica! Speaking of which, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins are among the musicians participating in a reunion of the original lineup of Infectious Grooves. According to Blabbermouth, the gig will take place on Jan 31st, 2014 at the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Hollywood, CA. Trujillo and Perkins will be joined by fellow original members Mike Muir on vocals and Dean Pleasants on guitar — both from Suicidal Tendencies — while ex-Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin will fill in for founding member Adam Siegel. Although a different version of Infectious Grooves has toured on and off since 2008, the original lineup played its first gig in 22 years this past June at Metallica’s Orion Music + More festival in Detroit. Trujillo spoke about the experience: “I had the opportunity to unite and connect with my old bandmates in Infectious Grooves after 22 years. Playing with that lineup was really a special experience for me, and for my bandmates to actually ask if I would do it was really, really huge, you know.”….Black Sabbath will return to North America in 2014 for a series of 10 shows beginning on March 31st in Brooklyn, New York and encompassing mostly Canadian stops until winding down on April 26th in Los Angeles. According to a press release, these gigs will be among the final shows that Sabbath does in support of its current studio album, 13, which became the band’s first Number One album ever in the U.S. when it was released this past June. See Road Rage for the updates. Man, I got the new issue of Revolver with Sabbath on the cover. Looks like a bad instagram shot. What were they thinking???….Kiss and Nirvana lead in fan voting for the 2014 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Deep Purple and Yes coming in third and fourth. The masked rock legends recently pulled ahead of the Seattle superstars, with Kiss getting 15.2 percent and Nirvana earning 14.9 percent of the more than one million votes cast already. Fans have until Dec 10th to vote and the top five acts will make the final “fan ballot,” which will count as one vote among the 600 submitted by previous inductees, musicians, historians, journalists and music industry execs….Halestorm singer Lzzy Hale joined Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy onstage in Milano, Italy on Nov 12th to duet on an acoustic version of the Alter Bridge song “Watch Over You.” Halestorm is currently on the road in Europe as support act for Alter Bridge and Shinedown, and will return to the U.S. for a short tour beginning on Nov 26th in Memphis. (Blabbermouth)….Happy 39th to Chad Kroeger of Nickelback today! And in 1986, Jason Newsted made his first live appearance as a member of Metallica. On Sunday, famed director Martin Scorcese turns 71!
