Today starts a busy three days of interviews in the hardDriveRadio studios with three new bands. This afternoon, former Underoath frontman Spencer Chamberlain of Sleepwave drops by with his acoustic guitar and I can’t wait to hear him do “Rock and Roll Is Dead, And So Am I.” (Spencer just wrapped some shows filling in for Taking Back Sunday’s lead singer who had a family emergency he had to deal with.) The band is in town to do a showcase to be seen by some label folks. Check the song out on YouTube now. Tomorrow, prog rockers Dead Letter Circus make their second appearance in the hardDrive studios to promote their new album, The Catalyst Fire. If you like bands like Karnivool and Fair To Midland, you will love these Aussies. Then on Thursday, foxy Taylor Momsen of Pretty Reckless (see her on the new issue of Maxim) will be in with her guitarist to do an interview and acoustic performance. Her new album Going to Hell will be out soon….Also today, new albums are out from Five Finger Death Punch–Vol. 2 The Wrong Side of Heaven, The Righteous Side of Hell. And A Perfect Circle releases a greatest hits package called Three Sixty in both standard and deluxe formats. It contains the exclusive studio version of new song “By And Down” as well as popular tracks from all three of the band’s previous studio efforts. Frontman Billy Howerdel told me looking back at the band’s past work was a surprising experience: “You know, you don’t sit and listen to your own music all the time. I mean, once I’m done making it, I don’t listen to it until you go and play it live. And then going back and listening to the studio recordings, it really did give me that shock of nostalgia. It got to be a really powerful memory for me, and nostalgic memories of making those records and touring and being with all the different lineups in this band.” In addition to hits like “The Hollow,” “Judith” and “3 Libras,” the two-disc deluxe edition of Three Sixty also contains several live recordings. In addition, the band recently released live versions on their three previous albums, one of which, eMOTIVe Live, the band’s cover song album, has a crazy live mash-up of Ozzy‘s “Diary of a Madman” and The Cure‘s “Love Song.” It’s like 14 minutes long! And you will hear a version of it on hardDrive on our Cover It Up special edition for your Thanksgiving weekend!….Also arriving today is The Best Of Nickelback, Volume 1, a comprehensive 19-song collection that includes monster hits like “Photograph,” “How You Remind Me,” “Rockstar,” “Burn It To The Ground,” “Far Away” and many more; Rush‘s Clockwork Angels Tour, a live document of the band’s latest world trek on Blu-ray, DVD and CD; Greatest Hits by David Lee Roth, a compilation of the Van Halen singer’s biggest solo songs; and If You Have Ghost, an covers EP by Swedish art-metal act Ghost BC that features production and some drumming and guitar playing from Dave Grohl…..A brand new reissue of Soundgarden‘s very first record releases is streaming online now at Soundcloud. The recordings are being reissued on CD, double vinyl and as a digital set next Tuesday (Nov 26th) via Sub Pop Records, the legendary independent label that was the Seattle grunge act’s first home. The set includes the band’s entire debut EP, Screaming Life, as well as bonus tracks from its second EP, Fopp, and songs that appeared on the Sub Pop 200 compilation, all initially issued in the late Eighties. The band is currently on hiatus while Chris Cornell does his solo acoustic run. Next year, the band is expected to hit the studio to record another album….No one ever said it would be pretty.
