Stay tuned for special announcement shortly…. Pulse of Radio reports Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor‘s first foray into the world of comic books, a four-issue series based on Stone Sour’s House Of Gold And Bones albums, will be issued as a trade paperback on December 10th. The comics tied into the storyline of the albums and expanded upon the tale of the Human, who finds himself at a crossroads and must embark on a wild adventure through treacherous lands. The House Of Gold And Bones concept albums were issued separately, with Part 1 coming out in the fall of 2012 and Part 2 arriving last April to coincide with the first issue of the comic book. Taylor has expressed interest in doing a tour on which Stone Sour would play both albums in order from start to finish, as well as a two-part movie adaptation of the story. He told us he already has some big ideas about the screen version: “I know the people I want to cast in it, I know the people I want to produce and direct it, and hopefully I can get that done. I mean, there’s really no ceiling to what we can do with this, so I’m pretty excited about it.” Taylor and Stone Sour guitarist Jim Root are reportedly going to reconvene with the other members of Slipknot early in 2014 to begin working on that band’s long-awaited new album, its first since 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. Yeah!….This is interesting. Pulse also reports Soundgarden is the first international act announced to perform at the 2014 edition of the Life Festival in the Polish town of Oswiecim, according to Gigwise. While the event will mark the group’s first-ever show in Poland, it is also notable for the fact that Oswiecim was formerly known as Auschwitz — site of perhaps the most infamous and largest of Nazi Germany’s concentration camps. The camp itself, liberated by the Allies during the closing months of World War II, is now the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. The festival was launched in 2010 by journalist and Oswiecim native Darek Maciborek. A statement posted at the festival website said, “Darek Maciborek intends to ‘break the spell’ of his home town that is commonly associated solely with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. The main concept of the Festival is to build peaceful relations beyond cultural and state borders where there is no place for anti-Semitism, racism, and other forms of xenophobia.” The Life Festival is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, June 25th to Saturday, June 28th, with Soundgarden appearing on Friday, June 27th. Soundgarden has just six other dates on its calendar so far in 2014, including three South American Lollapalooza stops in the spring and a trio of German shows in June as openers for Black Sabbath. Drummer Matt Cameron will be sitting out the band’s 2014 shows due to previous commitments with Pearl Jam and a desire to spend more time with his family. A remastered version of Soundgarden’s first two EPs, along with additional early tracks, arrives on Nov 26th…..Tool singer Maynard James Keenan‘s comedy/music act Puscifer has released a clip called “Toma” from the group’s upcoming DVD, What Is . . . , which is set to arrive on November 26th. Part concert film, part “mockumentary,” What Is . . . intersperses footage of Puscifer performing live with comedy skits starring Keenan and others. (Loudwire)…Creed singer Scott Stapp will embark on a solo tour in early 2014 to support his newly released second solo album, Proof Of Life. The series of intimate shows will kick off on March 19th at House of Blues in Dallas, with dates booked through April 9th in Atlanta. Presale tickets and VIP Meet & Greet packages are available starting today (Nov 20th), with Saturday (Nov 23rd) set as the public on-sale date through Ticketmaster. See Road Rage for the dates…I also posted new dates for Bring Me The Horizon, who will return to the U.S. in Feb and will have Of Mice & Men in tow…..3 Doors Down will hit the road starting Jan 10th in Reno, NV for the band’s first-ever fully acoustic tour. The trek, dubbed 3 Doors Down Acoustic – Songs From The Basement, will feature performances of fan favorite songs that have rarely been heard live in addition to some of the group’s biggest hits. A limited amount of VIP tickets will be made available that will allow fans to be seated right on the stage. 3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold said, “We experimented with an acoustic show in Nashville and had such a great response that we decided to take it on the road. We’ve never toured like this before, some of these songs have never been played live!” See Road Rage….Speaking of Corey Taylor, Blabbermouth reports Kings Of Chaos — the new touring project featuring former Guns N’ Roses members Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan, along with Glenn Hughes (Black Country Communion, Deep Purple), Corey Taylor and Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) — performed a special concert Monday, Nov 18th, at Avalon in Hollywood, CA. They played a two-hour set spanning the greatest hits from all of its superstar members. Additional special guest performers for the night included Juliette Lewis and Billy Ray Cyrus. The one-night-only benefit concert event, billed as “Tokyo Celebrates The Dolphin”, was the group’s only North American performance in 2013. Proceeds from “Tokyo Celebrates The Dolphin” will go directly to Ric O’Barry’s Dolphin Project, an international organization dedicated to saving dolphins from slaughter and exploitation. Los Angeles is the first and only, North American stop….As promised, Bullet For My Valentine revealed a new song on the BBC Radio 1 “Rock Show” in London on Monday. The song is called “Raising Hell” and you can check it out here. Drummer Moose Thomas told Billboard.com “It’s definitely more of a step towards our first two records. We always like to keep changing our records and our sounds and stuff. I think you have to change, otherwise it gets boring for us and the fans get bored. Look at all the great bands through rock history; they changed on all their albums — especially Metallica. Their albums have always changed, and they’re the biggest metal band ever. So we just want to keep changing and get to another level each time out.” Frontman/guitarist Matt Tuck told the U.K.’s Rock Sound magazine, “We’re actually going to start working on the new record before the (U.K.) arena dates (in early December). We’ve got (producer) Terry Date coming over from America, we’d like to work with him, he’d like to work with us so we’re gonna have a bonding session, write a couple of songs and see how it goes.” Date is best known for work with Slipknot, White Zombie, Limp Bizkit, Soundgarden, Deftones and Pantera…. Happy 71st today to Vice President Joe Biden, Happy 48th to Mike D (Diamond) of the Beastie Boys and Happy 38th to Davey Havok of AFI.
