Well, hell must’ve frozen over. Kiss is among the 2014 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Yesterday, they, along with Nirvana, lead the list of new inductees into the Rock Hall. The four additional artists selected for the Performer Category are Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Linda Ronstadt, and Cat Stevens. Ahmet Ertegun Awards will go to the Beatles‘ late manager Brian Epstein and original Rolling Stones manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham. The Award for Musical Excellence — formerly known as the Side-Men category — will be presented to the E Street Band. Side note: Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind went on to sell over 14 million copies while drastically changing landscape of rock n’ roll. Bassist Krist Novoselic told us why he thinks Nirvana took off so explosively: “Well, it was a phenomenon. I think a lot of it was timing as what was going on in the music business. And a lot of the Sunset Strip hair bands were past their prime and people were ready for something new. Nirvana always tried to be sincere.” The show will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday, April 10th. Kiss must be ecstatic the awards will be held not far from where they were raised in Queens (although Ace Frehley is from Brooklyn.) Hopefully, their induction won’t be like GN’R, leaving key original members out (like Ace & Peter Criss. That would suck!)…Lou Brutus hung out with Halestorm this weekend in Madison, WI and Chicago, IL. He interviewed Lzzy Hale and she said after 20 months of touring behind 2012’s The Strange Case Of . . . , the band is ready to get to work on record number three. The quartet will head into the studio in January following a short holiday break. Drummer Arejay Hale said the Pennsylvania band has relocated to Nashville, where it has its own studio, explaining, “With all the touring we’ve been doing we really haven’t had a chance to all sit down and write together as a band . . . We’re focused on performing and the shows and not quite as consumed with the writing process.” Hale added that the group has put down some ideas for its next effort, saying, “Every once in awhile we’ll write something and crudely record it on our phones real quick or something. It’s more about writing and ideas rather than producing a song; I think we get a lot more done when we’re all together. So we’re gonna go in and have the mentality of ‘It’s crunch time. We’ve got to write an album.‘” They are currently going through the short list of producers they’d like to work with (we hope they pick Nick Raskulinecz) and already have a batch of ideas to get started on for the songwriting process. Something in the water there in Nashville! So many rockers live and have moved there recently. And a ton of songwriters are based there too. We wish them the best, and we hope Lzzy’s clothing line, Happy Scissors, does a booming job this holiday season!…Lou also interviewed Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand, right after the band announced Jim Root would be sitting out the next leg of the tour when the band plans to perform more songs from House of Gold and Bones, Part 2. Josh said it’s going to be weird looking over to the other side of the stage and not seeing Jim there…..Oy vey! An arrest warrant has been issued for Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin, who failed to appear for a scheduled court date on Thursday (Dec 12th) for a progress report related to his cocaine possession case. According to Loudwire , the progress report was supposed to be part of a suspended sentence after Scantlin pleaded guilty to felony drug possession in 2012. Scantlin was ordered to enroll in the drug program while his conviction was delayed for 18 months. Missing this latest court date will not be good for his chances of staying out of prison. “Bro,” please get your life together! It might not be too late! There might still be fans out there who want to hear some new music from ya, and not be seeing you on TMZ! …..Here’s some more good news! Pearl Jam and Kings Of Leon are among the artists donating various items to an auction that is raising funds to benefit people impacted by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings last year in Newtown, CT. Pearl Jam is auctioning off a guitar signed by each band member at a Nov 21st show in San Diego, plus a copy of that night’s set list. Kings Of Leon are offering a package that includes four tickets to their Feb 15th concert in Uncasville, CT, plus the chance to meet the band before the concert.
