The good tidings of the season are abounding! Especially for the members of Nirvana on their recent announcement they made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “For once… I’m speechless,” says Dave Grohl of Nirvana’s induction. ”From the basements, to the dingy clubs, to the broken down vans, to… the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’d like to thank the committee not only for this induction, but also for recognizing Nirvana for what we were: pure rock and roll. Most of all, thank you to all of the fans that have supported rock and roll throughout the years, and to Kurt and Krist, without whom I would not be here today.” Krist Novoselic adds, “This is a great honor. Thank you to the people who nominated and voted for us. Thank you most of all to Kurt Cobain. And to everyone who’s kept Rock music going strong for 60 years and counting.” Well, we haven’t heard from Courtney Love yet, have we? Could she be the Grinch who stole Xmas???? Anyhow, the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 10. Tickets for the event going on sale in January…..The other band speaks out. Co-founding Kiss drummer Peter Criss says he couldn’t be happier with the band finally entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Criss — who turns 68 on Friday (Dec 20th) — told The Associated Press, “This is absolutely the best Christmas and birthday present I could get. This is amazing, that something like this could happen to a kid from Brooklyn.” It’s looking as though all four original members — Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Criss — are all on board for performing together at the April 10th induction ceramony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center….My friends Alter Bridge have posted a video online comprised of outtakes from behind the scenes on the band’s recent European tour. The group has been on the road behind its fourth album,Fortress, which was launched in September. Next on the agenda is the release of a 27-disc comprehensive boxed set, limited to 3,000 copies, and a string of North American dates next April. (Team Rock)….And finally today, Metallica has now made the band’s entire historic “Freeze ‘Em All” concert in Antarctica available for digital purchase at the group’s official website. The 10-song show took place at an Argentinean base on the world’s southernmost continent, with a small audience of fans in attendance and hearing the show through headphones. Metallica played just the second rock concert ever staged in Antarctica, and became the first band to ever perform on all seven continents in one year. A video recap of the entire event as well as footage of the group’s set has been posted online….Sno-Core Tour will be announced later today. Check back in Road Rage for all the details! The Pretty Reckless are headlining!
