A 12 year old boy takes a gun to school to kill people. Has bullying gotten this out of hand? Think about it. Do something about it. Parents, talk to your kids and lock your fire arms away, please. We have got to stop this!……Half the month of January, poof! Wow, time doesn’t march on, it’s freakin’ jogging!…I got the itinerary yesterday for a new tour with Gemini Syndrome, Red and Emphatic. See the Road Rage page for the dates. Wish they were coming to NYC, but alas, they are not. WAH!….On Friday, Lou Brutus will interview Corey Taylor to talk about the new Stone Sour tour and what’s up in the Slipknot camp with their new music and hopefully touring plans for 2014. More on that next week. Stone Sour are on tour now with Pop Evil. Dave Grohl and the boys will headline this year’s edition of the Firefly Music Festival, scheduled to take place between June 19th and 22nd at Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE. Joining them on the bill will be fellow headliners Outkast and Jack Johnson, along with Imagine Dragons, Cage The Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, Young The Giant, the Lumineers, Weezer and more. Grohl told us a while back that he gets a big charge out of the big outdoor music events: “These kind of shows are so much fun, when you open up with a song like ‘All My Life’ and they hear the (makes guitar sound), the place just kind of goes off. And it’s the best feeling in the world to stand there on stage and watch it happen.” Foo Fighters took most of 2013 off, with the band playing just a small warm-up gig at a So. California pizza restaurant and two stadium shows in Mexico City near the end of last year. But with work underway on the band’s eighth studio album, it seems that extensive live plans are being firmed up as well. I can’t wait to see them in 17 days here in NYC! Oh yeah!…..Our friends In This Moment have posted a video of the song “Beautiful Tragedy” from their new special edition of Blood with the live DVD Blood At the Orpheum, filmed in Madison, WI earlier last year! Check it out here. The reissue comes out Tuesday (Jan 21st) and also includes a cover version of the Nine Inch Nails track “Closer.” In This Moment have been evolving their highly theatrical stage show these days, and singer Maria Brink told us it’s about more than just visuals: “This theatrical show that we put on, I really want people to feel things not only when they hear us, but when they see us now. When they see different performing arts things happening and expression onstage, I want them to feel it as well.” Watch “Beautiful Tragedy” here. Currently, Maria is getting over strept throat, which resulted in some shows being postponed this week on their Hell Pop tour. Hope she’s feeling way better!…Korn singer Jonathan Davis has collaborated with composer Nicholas O’Toole on the score for the movie After The Dark. Formerly titled The Philosophers, the film follows a group of college students who must decide which 10 of them will take shelter underground during a coming nuclear apocalypse. A trailer is available for the film, which arrives in theaters and on VOD on Feb 7th. (Thanks Blabbermouth)…The Last Internationale is the name of a new band formed by Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk. The band has signed with Epic Records and a Brendan O’Brien produced album is due this year, with a single coming next month. With Wilk on drums, The Last Internationale are a trio with singer Delila Paz and guitarist Edgey Pires. They are decidedly alt rock leaning, and I am digging’ it. Listen to an EP they’ve posted on their website here. Some of you may have seen the band last summer as they opened for Scott Weiland…..Fall Out Boy has been tapped to perform during the halftime show at the NFL Pro Bowl on January 26th at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, HA.
