Well, this week is like the hardDriveRadio Olympic event! Five, count ’em, 5 bands will be hitting the studios this week, including a phoner with Brett Scallions of Fuel! Today, Rob Caggiano from Volbeat drops in. Tomorrow, Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge (they’re guesting on That Metal Show on Saturday night on VH-1 Classic, by the way.) The boys will also be doing an acoustic performance in our brand new video studio. I’m psyched they will be the first to break it in! Wednesday, Heaven’s Basement will come in for both a performance and interview as well, and Thursday, Chino Moreno, Shaun Lopez and Chuck Doom of Crosses will make an appearance. By Friday, I will be a winning a medal, I am sure! (Yes, Valentine’s Day Three Day Weekend!)…Pulse of Radio reports Godsmack frontman Sully Erna and drummer Shannon Larkin have both offered status reports on the band’s sixth studio album, which will follow up 2010’s The Oracle. Erna posted a message on Twitter, writing, “This band is on FIRE lately! Finished 11 songs in two weeks so far. 2014 watch the f%#k out!!!” Larkin, meanwhile, went into more detail with a post at the band’s website, saying that the group was recording at its new studio in New England after writing the music in Florida. Larkin stated, “So many cool new tunes that I can tell ya it’s gonna be hard to narrow these down to the best ones! I can’t give anything away at this point, but wanted to let you real fans know that we are DEEP into this and feeling great about positive attitudes and massive progress . . . I know it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from us, but we will make it worth your wait!“…Lifelong horror enthusiast and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett joined his former band Exodus on stage Friday night (Feb 7th) at Hammett’s first annual horror convention, dubbed Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEviL, at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California. Hammett performed the Exodus song “Piranha” and the Blue Oyster Cult classic “Godzilla.” Hammett was a member of Exodus’ original lineup before replacing Dave Mustaine in Metallica in 1983.
