Well, I received my Valentine’s Day flowers from my man 36 hours early. Why? There’s a blizzard today here in the Frozen Big Apple, so I guess the florists were afraid they wouldn’t be able to deliver in time for the big day. I like it no matter! And a helium balloon too!….Well, saw Chino Moreno, Shaun Lopez and Chuck Doom‘s Crosses last night. WOW! It was a special and most awesome aurally sensational music event I’ve seen in a while. Set in the truancy environment of Santos House Party venue near Chinatown in lower Manhattan, the place was packed by the time we arrived, forcing a bad sight line spot, but I have never seen Chino in a more jovial and uplifting mood! It was really something. The crowd was loving every moment and singing along to new music that was only just released on Tuesday! (#10 on iTunes!) So check them out when they come to your town! Can’t wait to interview them today, provided they make it to my office! Check out the tunes “Blk Stallion” and “Option.” My favorites…..Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy told me Slash is about half done with the next album, and it’s going to be “very rock.” I was surprised to hear he’d been working away with Slash on it. I wonder when he sleeps! Meanwhile, I wonder when Slash is ever HOME! Every time I turn around, the guy has an event he wants to attend, whether it’s a charity event or jam, or Fear Fest-Evil or whatever. No longer an alcoholic, just a workaholic…Oh boy, Pulse of Radio reports Courtney Love said in a new interview with Access Hollywood that Nirvana‘s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this coming April might get “awkward” due to her less than friendly relationship with the surviving members of the group. Love will be on hand to accept for her late husband, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, along with Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. (Hey what about Pat Smear?) Asked about her long-standing feud with Grohl, Love said, “We’re going to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I think we’re all sitting at the same table.” The Hole singer added that while it will be “awkward,” she’ll say hello to Grohl despite the public war of words the two have had for years over the use and control of Nirvana’s music. (But will he say hello back?) Love also discussed her new YouTube channel/reality show, her battles with sobriety and her relationship with 21-year-old daughter Frances Bean in the interview. Nirvana were recently announced as 2014 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens. The induction ceremony will take place on April 10th in Brooklyn, New York. That same day will be declared Nirvana Day by the Washington town of Hoquaim, located just four miles from Kurt Cobain’s hometown of Aberdeen. Both of those events will take place five days after the 20th anniversary of Cobain’s suicide on April 5th….Meanwhile, the two other workaholics, Dave Grohl and Stone Sour/Slipknot singer Corey Taylor are two of the musicians involved with a new project called Teenage Time Killer. Pulse of Radio says the project is the brainchild of Mike Dean and Reed Mullin from legendary underground hardcore thrash act Corrosion Of Conformity. Among the other artists also confirmed to participate are Lamb of God‘s Randy Blythe, Neil Fallon from Clutch, Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys, plus past and present members of Fear, Queens Of The Stone Age, Prong, Soulfly, the Misfits,Black Flag and many other hardcore, punk and thrash acts. The instrumental parts for Teenage Time Killer’s upcoming debut release were recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, CA on the famous Sound City mixing board, which was the central focus of Grohl’s acclaimed Sound City: Real To Reel documentary. Randy Blythe described Teenage Time Killer as “old-school C.O.C.-style thrash punk.” A release date has not yet been set for the project…..The sorely overlooked Ghost BC version of Roky Erickson‘s “If You Have Ghost” (produced by Dave Grohl) has emerged online as a live performance with frontman Papa Emeritus II scoffing his make up and going au natural. Filmed at the Music Feeds studios in Australia, watch it here….Well, I better get ready to trudge through the wind, rain, ice and snow. Yuck!…Happy 53rd today to Henry Rollins and Peter Gabriel turns 64.
