Happy Valentine’s Day! I woke up to a loving message from my man, and two texts: one from the manager of Crosses, who said Chino Moreno LOVED the interview I did with his band yesterday (<3) and one from my pal who works with the Foo Fighters who sent me a picture of he and I standing on the side of the stage watching the band back on Feb 1. Now that’s a great way to start Valentine’s Day, I’d say! Watch Crosses on Jimmy Kimmel Live here….Ah, drinking the best cup of coffee and it’s sunny outside without a cloud in the sky! Maybe I can imagine it’s springtime…..OK, so since I mentioned the Foos, how about we start today with this story from Pulse of Radio: Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum are expecting their third daughter, a source has told Us Weekly. The new addition to the family will join eight-year-old Violet and five-year-old Harper. The insider added that Jordyn has been struggling to come up with a name for the new baby because she has already used the names she liked for her two older girls. Grohl and Blum were wed in 2003. The singer, guitarist and drummer has spoken about passing his love for music down to his daughters. During the recent CBS special, The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles, Grohl told the audience that the Beatles were “my Mom’s favorite band, my favorite band and now my daughter’s favorite band.” Grohl also said in an interview with the U.K.’s Telegraph his eldest daughter understands the demands of her father’s job, revealing that he told her, “‘Some daddies are lawyers, some are doctors, I’m a musician, that’s my job. And I go to work so that I can make money so we can have food and you can have clothes and you can have toys.’ “And she immediately said, ‘I don’t have enough toys!’” Grohl and Foo Fighters are currently working on their eighth album, while Grohl will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this April as a member of Nirvana….The Pretty Reckless have released a new video for their Top Five rock radio track “Heaven Knows,” and the clip is sure to be provocative. It features lead singer Taylor Momsen walking down the halls of a school while a group of children in one room are being hypnotized by subliminal messages being pumped out by a bank of televisions. Momsen appears before the kids in a black robe, which she loses at one point to reveal herself wearing nothing but the band’s Gothic cross logo down her body. Momsen told us the song itself was inspired by all the touring that The Pretty Reckless did in the past two years: “It was one of the first songs I think we wrote for the record. We got off tour and started to kind of write and reflect on what we had just done for two years and, I mean, after seeing the world with your own two eyes and traveling it, it definitely, I think, changes your perception and your perspective of your own life.” Check it out!….Wasn’t too surprised when I read this news. Blabbermouth reported late yesterday Hellyeah has parted ways with guitarist Greg Tribbett and bass player Bob “Zilla” Kakaha. Atlanta-based bassist Kyle Sanders from Monstro! and Bloodsimple has already joined the group, but it’s unclear if Tribbett will be replaced. A post at Hellyeah’s Facebook page discussed the split, saying, “Things happen for necessary reasons. It’s so easy for people to assume or make up reasons for things. Don’t ASSUME anything! The reasons for this parting of ways was for the better good. When you hear the new record, you’ll understand.” Could this spell Greg’s return to Mudvayne? Wonderers are wondering. Still in the lineup are original drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, guitarist Tom Maxwelland singer Chad Gray. Hellyeah’s fourth studio album, Blood For Blood, will arrive on June 10th. The first single, “Sangre Per Sangre (Blood For Blood),” will hit rock radio in April. Other tracks include “Demons In The Dirt,” “Soul Killer,” “Moth,” “Gift,” “Hush” and “Black December.” A press release describes the album, produced by Kevin Churko in Las Vegas, as a “welcome return to form” for the band, adding that it “sounds like a recharged Hellyeah, taken up many notches.” Hellyeah will hit the road this spring, starting with several festival slots in April and May. BTW: Kyle’s big brother Troy is the bassist for Mastodon! I am hearing their new album is going to be OFF THE HOOK!…. Initial bands for the line-up for Rockfest in Cadott, WI has been announced. I know the top 2 bands, but they’d kill me if I said anything. Hint: a band I L O V E in on it….I love Rob Zombie! He posted a “few moments” online from his band’s upcoming concert DVD, writing at his Instagram account, “Yes, I know the quality is bad. The DVD will look sweet!” The disc will feature footage filmed during stops on last year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Mayhem Festival tour in Houston on August 3rd, 2013 and Dallas on August 4th. Zombie has never released a concert DVD before and told hardDrive affiliate in Albany, NY WQBK he always thought of doing one as a “huge nuisance,” adding, “After the show is done, I don’t care. I don’t want to relive it . . . I never wanna hear about it again, I never wanna see it again. Like, I never watch anything — a TV show I’ve been on; I don’t care. Once it’s done, it’s done. But I figured at least once we should film it.” What a curmudgeon! LOL…Wow! Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi is selling his 1905 Birmingham, England mansion for 4.3 Million. (That’s 2.6 Million quid for you!) Check it out here….Celebrating birthdays this weekend: Saturday, Brandon Boyd of Incubus is 38, Jake E Lee from Red Dragon Cartel is 57 and Matt Groening (Simpsons originator) is 60.
