Well, I hope I didn’t jinx our women’s’ team yesterday, boasting USA would beat Canada. I am enjoying the taste of crow today, but TONIGHT is the NIGHT for the men’s TEAM USA vs CANADA shoot-out. GO USA! *of course I will be listening to Lou Brutus on hardDrive XL with the tv on mute!…..Well, sometimes the best intentions don’t always come to fruition as noted in this next story from Pulse of Radio. Rob Zombie has revealed he has scrapped his plan to make a hockey movie called Broad Street Bullies in favor of another movie in the genre he’s most associated with, horror. Zombie told New Zealand’s 3 News despite working on his sports film for nearly two years, he suddenly came up with a new idea for a horror movie his producers loved and immediately wanted to set up. Zombie explained, “That turned into a weird bidding war and that became the next film.” Zombie admitted to us a while back it’s been tough for him to break out of the horror genre: “The movies I’ve made up to this point have been pretty dark and pretty much in that world because those are the opportunities that were presented. You know, the people that put up the money for these things know that if I stick to that sort of thing, it’s easily more profitable. So it’s a much bigger challenge to break out of it.” Broad Street Bullies was going to be about the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team of the 1970s that were famous for beating the Soviet Union’s team at the time and notorious for their violent tactics on the ice. Zombie did not divulge any details of the new movie’s plot, but hinted that it may be in the same vein as one of his earlier films, the fan favorite The Devil’s Rejects. He said, “I think it’s something fans of the other stuff will like. Probably fans of The Devil’s Rejects will enjoy (it) the most. It’s not connected to that film, but it’s more on that headspace.”…3 Doors Down has issued a statement regarding the band’s bassist Todd Harrell, who was arrested on Tuesday (Feb 18th) on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The band said, “Last summer, Todd was suspended from the band and not allowed to participate in any 3 Doors Down performances, pending the resolution of criminal charges filed against him last year in connection with an automobile accident. Following yesterday’s incident, the band has extended Todd’s suspension indefinitely. We take this action to protect the image and integrity of the band and to encourage Todd to address and resolve his problems.”….Lacuna Coil have posted a lyric video for “Nothing Stands In Our Way” from their forthcoming album, Broken Crown Halo. Watch it! I am hoping the band has time to visit us in the hardDriveRadio studios on Monday. Sick Puppies will definitely make a stop. You may not be aware that two members of Lacuna Coil have left the band: guitarist Cris “Pizza” Migliore and drummer CriZ Mozzati. Citing the need to spend more time with their families at home, they parted ways with the band on very good terms. Will be looking forward to seeing who their replacements are on the tour Monday night ….And finally today, Mashable reports a 13 year old Girl Scout (probably her Mom’s idea) set up her Girl Scout cookie stand in front of a busy medical marijuana clinic in Denver and sold 117 boxes of cookies in one day. Apparently it wasn’t the first time either. Genius idea if you ask me!…Birthdays this weekend: Appropriately, on Saturday, SNL announcer Don Pardo turns 96! And Sunday, my ole pal Brad Whitford of Aerosmith turns 62.
