Linkin Park, 30 Seonds To Mars and AFI out on the Carnivores Tour! Starts Aug 8 in FL, wraps in Concord, CA on Sep 19. Tour is posted in Road Rage. Will be speaking today to Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Tomo Miličević of 30 Seconds. Looking forward to that. Apparently Jared Leto was unavailable. Rats! He was a part of the press conference in LA yesterday. And is it me, or does Jared seem to always be hitting on women who interview him? I saw him in the line at the Golden Globes. He was even hitting on actresses standing talking to other reporters on the red carpet. Yesterday, he hit on the chick from Fuse and the one from Entertainment Tonight in Canada. Dude, dial it back. Makes you look desperate! LOL… Pulse of Radio reports Slash, in collaboration with guitar string and musical accessory manufacturer Ernie Ball, has posted the second episode of a new digital series called “Real To Reel With Slash.” The series is chronicling the entire in-studio recording process of Slash’s third solo album and second with his band Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, from the first day of work to the last. (Videos here and here.) The series is following Slash and the band from pre-production at NRG Studios in Los Angeles to the final recordings in Studio Barbarossa in Florida. A new episode will be posted for fans every week, giving real-time updates on the new album’s progress along with commentary from the band members and more. Slash, who constantly performs with other artists when not making his own music, told us a while back how he stays so artistically driven: “Well, I mean, I’m artistically driven ’cause I was raised that way. My parents, my grandparents are all 100 percent artists. None of us could successfully balance a checkbook. There’s no businessmen in my family. When it comes to art, we’re completely committed and completely dedicated. Everybody’s very sort of artistically driven and that’s been, you know, the way I’ve been ever since I can remember.” Slash is recording the new album on analog tape as opposed to doing it digitally. He explained, “I love the process of recording live in the studio and the sound of a rock n roll band recorded on two-inch tape as opposed to digital. I thought it would be cool to show some footage of us doing exactly that.” When Myles Kennedy stopped by, he told me the band was nearly done with the record. And that it’s turing out really great. Nice!…Noisecreep reports Metallica has dug into its vaults to release a recording of a vintage concert from London as well as behind-the-scenes video clips from the sessions for 2008’s Death Magnetic album. The London concert was recorded on September 21st, 1986 and featured guitar tech John Marshall playing guitar for an injured James Hetfield. It was also one of bassist Cliff Burton‘s final gigs before his death six days later in a tour bus crash….When I read about this yesterday, I didn’t think it was real. NME reports an ad placed by a man purporting to be an ex-roommate of Kurt Cobain, offering a few of the late Nirvana frontman’s possessions for sale, has been revealed as a hoax. The stunt was perpetrated by Sub Pop Records receptionist Derek Erdman, who put it together last Friday morning (Feb 28th) and said he got a lot of replies from “serious collectors.” Erdman pretended to be a former bass player for the Seattle band Gruntruck who claimed to have Cobain’s skis, a video game and a watch for sale…Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins is launching a new side project called The Birds Of Satan with bassist Wiley Hodgden and guitarist Mick Murphy. The trio’s self-titled debut album will be out April 15th through Shanabelle Records and will feature guest appearances from Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear.
