Friday the 13th…….step on a crack, don’t let a black cat cross your path, don’t walk under a ladder…..whatever.
Linkin Park has shared the episode of Carpool Karaoke the band filmed just a week before singer Chester Bennington committed suicide last July. The group posted the 24-minute episode on its Facebook page, saying it was doing so with the blessing of Bennington’s family. The episode opens with actor Ken Jeong joking that he wants to join the group as Bennington sits in the driver’s seat and co-vocalist Mike Shinoda and DJ Joe Hahn settle into the back.
Over the course of the episode, the four men sing Outkast‘s “Hey Ya,” Linkin Park’s “Numb,” “In the End,” and “Talking to Myself” along with Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ “Under the Bridge.” They eventually board a party bus where the karaoke continues with Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s “Sweet Home Alabama” and Aerosmith‘s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.”
The segment also features Bennington waxing about his love of Dungeons & Dragons, Jeong breakdancing and other funny moments. The episode ends with a link to the One More Light Fund, which the band has established to honor Bennington through the group’s Music for Relief fund.
Sadly, Bennington took his own life one week later in his Southern California home. After the singer’s death, Jeong wrote on Twitter, “I am in shock and heartbroken. All my thoughts and prayers go out to Chester and his family and friends at this time.”
Meanwhile, Linkin Park is scheduled to take the stage at a memorial concert for its fallen singer on October 27th at the Hollywood Bowl, with members of Korn, System Of A Down, Blink-182, Avenged Sevenfold and others all scheduled to appear as well.
Marilyn Manson has announced rescheduled US tour dates for January and February following the postponement of his October US tour due to an on stage injury that occurred at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Sep 30. All tickets for original performances will be honored at newly announced dates below. Unfortunately, Manson is not able to honor tickets for the Oct 8th Columbus, OH show or the Oct 26th Phoenix, AZ – refunds are available for those two shows at point of purchase. The Pulse Of Radio says they found a story on The PRP. Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have released a cover of director and composer John Carpenter‘s theme to his classic 1978 film Halloween. Reznor said in a statement, “I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see ‘Halloween’ when it came out in 1978. We left the theater forever changed. We were damaged and scarred, with the s**t genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. John Carpenter, it’s your fault that I turned out the way I did.”
You can purchase the track through various digital outlets or stream it. Carpenter will release a collection of newly recorded versions of his theme songs next Friday, October 20th. That set will be titled Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998. The collection brings together 13 classic themes from Carpenter’s illustrious career, each one newly recorded by Carpenter, his son Cody and his godson, Daniel Davies.
It’s unclear if the Nine Inch Nails cover is included as a bonus track, since it’s not included on the tracklisting. Nine Inch Nails’ latest EP, Add Violence, is out now, as well as the duo’s score for Ken Burns’ new PBS documentary series, The Vietnam War.

Got an email from Metallica yesterday asking fans to give them a hand. The band is prepping deluxe remastered versions of its 1988 album …And Justice For All and it self-titled 1991 LP, a.k.a. “the black album,” and is reaching out to its hardcore fans to provide content for the new editions. The band posted a message on social media which read, “With the deluxe box sets of Kill ‘Em All and Ride The Lightning behind us, and Master Of Puppets less than a month away, it’s time to start trudging forward with …And Justice For All and Metallica.”
The post continued, “We’re looking for anything and everything you might have from August 1987 through July 1993 . . . photos (taken by you!), flyers, ticket stubs, backstage passes and whatever other mementos you may have from that time. Also, if you happened to interview James (Hetfield), Lars (Ulrich), Kirk (Hammett) or Jason (Newsted) during that time and still have the recording, please let us know!”
The band asked for the same kind of help on the first three box sets, saying it wants to “make sure there’s a fan footprint on all of these releases.” Fans who believe they have materials that can be used can send an email to submissions@metclub.com for more info.
The “black album” remains one of the best-selling LPs of all time and former bassist Jason Newsted told us at the time Metallica was prepared to make a big leap forward: “Everybody was ready. We pulled in somebody that could control us for a second and harness us for a second. That transpired. Everybody put their nose to the stone and worked hard, like Metallica always did, and then we got the fruits from it. 25 years later, it’s still, well, maybe is the biggest selling album in America for, I don’t know, for a long time.”
Meanwhile, Metallica will reissue 1986’s Master Of Puppets on Lou Brutus‘ birthday, Nov 10th. The set will be available physically and digitally in various editions, including Standard, Expanded and Deluxe, with bonus content ranging from previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, interviews and live tracks to a 108-page hardcover book, DVDs, handwritten lyrics and more.
The Pulse Of Radio also added, while …And Justice For All is considered a Metallica classic, it has been criticized almost since the day it was released for the lack of bass guitar on the record. Jason Newsted’s playing is virtually buried in the mix — and many fans feel that drummer Lars Ulrich, who had very specific ideas for how he wanted his drums to sound, is to blame.
…And Justice For All was Newsted’s first full-length album with Metallica after he replaced late bassist Cliff Burton in 1986. The album was the first by the band to sell more than a million copies and featured their first radio hit, “One,” which was also the basis of the group’s first music video. The record was nominated for the first-ever Grammy for “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance”, but infamously lost to Jethro Tull‘s Crest Of A Knave. Boy, I remember THAT night! It was INSANE!
In 2014, the self-titled “black album” became the first album to sell 16 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. The album in 2009 surpassed Shania Twain‘s 1997 record, Come On Over, as the best-selling CD of the SoundScan era. Metallica performed “the black album” in its entirety at a number of European festivals in 2012.
Another band who share the same management as Metallica, Muse is back in the studio working on new music. The British trio has posted several photos online giving fans a look inside the work environment where they are currently working with producer Rich Costey. The band issued the single “Dig Deep” earlier this year and has teased doing singles and EPs rather than a full album. The group’s last full-length LP, Drones, came out in 2015, which was also produced by Costey, as well as their 2006, Black Holes & Revelations album. (Loudwire)
Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan will host an exhibition of his artwork called “His Whores” at the Lethal Amounts gallery in Los Angeles on Monday, Nov 2nd at 9:00 p.m. In addition to his musical work with Slipknot, Crahan has directed most of the band’s videos and concert films, including the new Day of the Gusano, and has also shown his photography. P!nk joined Guns N’ Roses onstage Wednesday night (Oct 11th) at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers were performing their 1989 classic, “Patience,” when P!nk strolled onstage in a red leather jacket and joined singer Axl Rose. She sang the song’s third verse as the crowd went wild. Afterwards, Guns N’ Roses thanked Pink via Twitter, to which she replied, “Oh. Yeah. Whatever. No problem,” followed by a bunch of blushing emojis and hearts. (Rolling Stone)
