Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is a well-known Donald Trump critic. He blasted the President in a new Instagram post over Trump’s veiled threat on Twitter to launch a nuclear attack on North Korea, writing, “This isn’t funny. This is our president acting like a madman drunk on power THREATENING to kill innocent starving people by way of nuclear war. The 25th amendment needs to be enforced. This man is sick and unfit for office. I don’t care if your liberal or conservative…this has to stop. Please share #impeachtrump.” Billie Joe also did not mince words with responses to his post. One fan replied in support of Trump, and was told in no uncertain terms to get off the page and unfollow him.
Slash’s 15-year-old son London Hudson said in an interview with the Appetite For Distortion podcast that his father seemed genuinely thrilled to be playing with Guns N’ Roses again after two decades away from the group. London explained, “He seems really excited to play, that he’s able to do what he loves with the guys that he loves. It’s cool, because a lot of the Velvet Revolver stuff I don’t remember how he was acting, but you can tell he’s excited every show. He’s nervous before every show to play. He does his 20 minutes of solitude before the shows, still.”
Slash reunited with Axl and bassist Duff McKagan in 2016, launching a world tour in April of that year that has been a massive success. The guitarist described the band’s reunion and tour as “awesome.” Guns N’ Roses will return next June for a seven-week European jaunt, but the band’s plans until then, and beyond that, remain unknown for now.
Legend Of The Seagullmen, the new band featuring Tool drummer Danny Carey and Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, made its live debut at Primus‘ annual New Years Eve show in Oakland, California this past Sunday (December 31st). Hinds was unable to make the show due to a family emergency. The band’s self-titled debut album will arrive on February 9th through Dine Alone Records.
Later on in the evening Carey joined Primus for a rendition of the band’s song “Southbound Pachyderm.” Legend of the Seagullmen also features OFF!’s Dimitri Coats and director Jimmy Hayward.
Carey recently confirmed that Tool will “definitely” release a new album in 2018, saying, “We’ll probably have it done in the first half (of the year) if things go as planned . . . (What time of year it will be out), I can’t tell you.” Tool’s last album, 10,000 Days, came out in May 2006, more than 11 years ago. Mastodon released an EP late last year titled Cold Dark Place.
