Woo hoo! We may be snowed in on the east coast, but at least we’ve got new music to warm our hearts!
Breaking Benjamin has released its new single “Red Cold River,” the first track to arrive from the band’s sixth studio album, Ember. Digital downloads of the single are available now. Expect more details to be revealed about Ember later this month, with pre-orders already scheduled to launch on January 26th.
Frontman Ben Burnley told us a while back what his formula was for writing a good album:”I like to write songs that I like, you know what I mean, and then it just so happens that the public likes it too, you know. I mean, I don’t get, like, too, too artsy with it or anything like that. Just cool riffs, good melody, good lyrical content, slap it all together and you’ve got yourself a record!”
Breaking Benjamin will begin a nationwide tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine on January 12th. You can see all those dates on the Road Rage page! Check out Red Cold River below!
Kid Rock is donating $50,000 — $25,000 each — from his Kid Rock Foundation to the Second Harvest Food Banks of Western Michigan and Middle Tennessee. Rock said in a statement that he wanted to start 2018 on a “positive note,” adding, “I think it is important to help others out, especially this time of year when it is cold and the holidays can be such a strain on some who are really struggling to try to make ends meet. Please do what you can to help. They have other locations all across America.”
Rock said a while back why he enjoys doing charitable work: “Oh, it makes me feel great. It’s a win-win. I mean, it makes me feel really good about myself that I’m doing something positive for people that need it, you know. It makes me set a good example for my son, you know, when sometimes I might not always be doing that. And you know, the people that need it hopefully are really getting it, so . . . I don’t ever want to be the guy that stole the cookie, you know. I’d rather — if I got a cookie, I’ll give you half of it.”
Finally, congrtulations to Guns N’ Roses‘! The “Not In This Lifetime” reunion tour is now the fourth highest grossing trek of all time, according to Billboard Boxscore. The tour, which launched in April 2016, topped the $475 million mark in gross sales with the final show of the band’s 2017 schedule on November 29th in Los Angeles.
“Not In This Lifetime” has now surpassed Roger Waters‘ “The Wall Live” tour, which earned $459 million from 2010 through 2013. U2 tops up the all-time list with $736 million from its “360°” 2009 to 2011 stadium tour, followed by the Rolling Stones‘ 2005 to 2007 “A Bigger Bang” jaunt at $558 million. Coldplay is third with its recently completed A Head Full Of Dreams trek, which grossed $523 million.
Guns N’ Roses kicked off its long-rumored and long-awaited reunion tour in April 2016 with a club show in Hollywood and appearances in Las Vegas and at California’s Coachella festival. The “Not In This Lifetime” tour features classic lineup members Slash on guitar, Duff McKagan on bass and Axl Rose on vocals, backed by guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and new second keyboardist Melissa Reese. It marked the first time that the three founding members of the group had performed together onstage in more than 20 years. Guns will return to Europe in June for a seven-week road trip, but the band’s plans until then, and beyond that, remain unknown for now.
Finally, A Happy Birthday to Marilyn Manson! His first show for 2018 is January 10th in Phoenix, Arizona! Glad he’s back on it!
