Good morning Radicals! Here’s some fresh music news for ya!
Marilyn Manson has shared a new music video for the song “Tattooed In Reverse” which features an appearance from Courtney Love. As the clip begins, a young woman is seen struggling on an operating table until she’s given anesthesia. But then she’s plagued by visions of faceless characters closing in on her as they dance to the song. Meanwhile, a cast of nefarious medical practitioners, including a nurse played by Love, observe her frantic yet induced state.
“Tattooed In Reverse” is the fourth song from Manson’s latest album, Heaven Upside Down, to be made into a video. It follows “We Know Where You F**king Live,” “Kill4Me” and “Say10.” The latter two videos also starred actor Johnny Depp, a good friend of Manson.
Manson and Rob Zombie will co-headline the “Twins Of Evil: The Second Coming Tour” this summer, starting July 11th in Detroit and wrapping up on August 29th in Irvine, California.
Blink-182 bassist and singer Mark Hoppus stars in a College Humor clip in which he addresses a crowd of bass players at the annual bassist convention, saying, “We have to talk about ‘the problem.’ We have to stop looking so bored onstage when we play.” Hoppus makes his point by displaying a photo of the late Who bassist John Entwistle looking not so thrilled to be onstage, asking, “Does he even know that he’s in The Who?!”
Hoppus cites bass players like Red Hot Chili Peppers icon Flea and Primus founder Les Claypool as exceptions to the rule. Hoppus cites some common “mistakes” that bored bass players make, including talking to your drummer during the show and glancing at your phone. But he also makes some helpful suggestions on moving about the stage to keep things lively and how to draw attention to the bass player.
Hoppus will get a chance to look excited onstage when Blink begins its previously announced 16-date residency at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Dubbed “Kings of the Weekend,” the run will begin May 26th and take place on select weekends through November 17th.
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder appears in a clip from the new documentary The Zen Diaries Of Garry Shandling, in which filmmaker and former stand-up comedian Judd Apatow details the life and career of late comedian Garry Shandling. In the clip, Apatow brings Vedder onstage during the former’s comedy set at Bonnaroo in 2016. The pair turn excerpts from Shandling’s diary into an acoustic ballad, with Apatow occasionally interjecting some of Shandling’s jokes and the two men eventually singing the excerpts together. The documentary premiered this week on HBO.

Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda has been working on a new solo album in recent months and it appears we may get a taste of it later this week. Shinoda just posted a video which teases a March 29th reveal date. Shinoda released an EP titled Post Traumatic in January and has also been lining up solo shows for the months ahead.
It appears Deftones may be working on new material this week. The band posted an image from the studio to its social media accounts on Tuesday (March 27th), with the captions “someone say jam?!” and “#backatit.” The group came off a roughly five-month break to play its first live show of 2018 earlier this month in San Antonio, but has no further shows scheduled until May 24th — so it seems the band may be recording and not rehearsing.
That’s a wrap for now, have a great day!
