Ghost has announced a massive North American fall tour that will kick off on October 26th in Tulsa, Oklahoma and wrap on December 15th in Brooklyn. The trek includes the Swedish band’s previously announced headlining arena dates at The Forum in Los Angeles, California and Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Pre-sales begin on Thursday (June 14th), while general admission tickets will be available for purchase starting Friday (June 15th) at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Ghost recently debuted a new live show and will likely expand that for arenas. Frontman Tobias Forge told us a while back that unveiling a new show can be nerve-wracking: “I mean, it’s always a little bit hairy when you’ve not done it like on an every-night-to-night basis. So you never really know during the show if it’s actually going to happen or not. It’s always exciting starting up a new tour with new gadgets and new stuff, but it’s always a little bit more enjoyable when you’re a few dates into it and you’ve done it a couple of times.”
Meanwhile, the new Ghost album, Prequelle, landed at Number Three on this week’s Billboard 200 chart. The disc, which arrived on June 1st, sold 66,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release, with 61,000 of those in traditional album sales.
Ghost’s last studio release, the Popestar EP, debuted at Number Six with 21,000 copies sold back in September 2016.
Magicians, human puppeteers and octopi are all part of the cast of characters in the creepy new video for “The Contrarian” by A Perfect Circle. The vivid 2D clip contains footage from the full-length hologram companion film that appeared in the deluxe box set of the band’s recently issued fourth LP, Eat The Elephant. The hologram film is viewable through a prism included in the box set.
A Perfect Circle also released a 2D video for “TalkTalk,” which also excerpted a modified segment of the film last month. Singer Maynard James Keenan called the hologram film “a combined experience of the tactile and the visual” in an interview with Billboard last month.
Eat The Elephant is the band’s first full-length collection of all-new material in 14 years.
A Perfect Circle also extended its upcoming North American fall tour with new dates in New Orleans at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience the weekend of October 26th, in Lexington, Kentucky on November 3rd, Baltimore on November 7th, Detroit on November 9th, Minneapolis on November 11th, Cedar Rapids, Iowa on November 13th and Park City, Kansas on November 14th.
Shortly after putting his Hawaiian retreat on Maui on the market, Nickelback bassist Mike Kroeger has purchased a house in Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles for $3.795 million. The 4,568-square-foot home sits behind a vine-encrusted wall and hedgerow and includes a two-story main house with four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, along with a pool house and a detached, studio-style guesthouse, also both with full bathrooms.
The house was first built in 1935 and was owned at one time by legendary horror movie icon Bela Lugosi, who reportedly installed gargoyles on the property’s front gates. The house also features nine-foot French doors, a large eat-in kitchen with enormous fireplace, another outdoor kitchen, a pool and spa.
Kroeger recently put his Maui, Hawaii home up for sale for $4.88 million.
Nickelback’s latest album, Feed The Machine, came out last June and landed at Number Five on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Kroeger told us a while back that the Canadian rockers want to be known for more than just their hits: “You kind of aspire to be that artist that just puts out a record and people just want to have it, because of the relationship with the artist. And they’re not necessarily gunning for your first single, you know, so it’s kind of nice flattery.” The band is currently touring Europe, but will come back to North America for a handful of dates in July and head over to Japan in August.
Chicago Cubs fans buying tickets for the team’s July 6th game at Wrigley Field against the Cincinnati Reds will get a special bonus with their seats: a seven-inch vinyl single from Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. The A-side of the single, released through Jack White‘s Third Man Records, will feature “All the Way,” which Illinois native Vedder wrote about the Cubs, while the B-side will have a 1984 performance of Steve Goodman’s Cubs anthem “Go, Cubs, Go.”
Vedder is a longtime, diehard Cubs fan who appeared with players Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo in an Major League Baseball commercial last year while performing a new jingle. Vedder’s single will be the second baseball-related release from Third Man, which issued a single for White’s hometown Detroit Tigers last year.
Pearl Jam has been writing its 11th studio LP and is heading out on European and North American tour dates this spring and summer.
Puddle Of Mudd, Saliva and Tantric will launch “The Resurrection Tour” on August 2nd in Maplewood, Minnesota, winding through the country until the trek comes to an end on September 8th in Kansas City, Missouri. The tour’s name is appropriate as most of the bands on the bill, which will include Soil and The Veer Union on selected dates, are attempting to make comebacks of one sort of another.
The most notable is Puddle Of Mudd, whose frontman Wes Scantlin is said to now be six months sober after a period of several years in which he abandoned multiple shows mid-set, got into a standoff with 30 police officers, was arrested for skipping a court date, was arrested for attempting to board a plane with a BB gun and was arrested for trying to vandalize his own foreclosed house. Scantlin reportedly went into rehab earlier this year.
A post on Saliva’s Facebook page said about Scantlin, “Wes has been doing great. We played with him in Tampa in March. He’s been sober on the road for over six months.”
Saliva itself has been through numerous personnel changes over the past several years, with singer Josey Scott exiting in 2011, drummer Paul Crosby departing this past March and bassist Brad Stewart leaving last month. Tantric has also gone through multiple upheavals since the band’s heyday, with singer Hugo Ferreira now the only original member in the group.
