Good morning Radicals! Here’s some fresh music news for ya!
Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators have released “Driving Rain,” the first single off their upcoming album Living The Dream. Slash said about the song, “This is a riff I specifically remember playing with the guys for the first time at a venue in New Hampshire on the World On Fire tour. It’s a cool guitar part we ran though, and from that point forward the rest of the song started to come together in my mind while on the road. We put it all together this year and Myles came up with a great melody for it.”
Singer Myles Kennedy added, “Lyrically, it’s a story about somebody who works on the road — it could be a musician, and it could be a traveling salesman. What makes it interesting is this guy has an addict girlfriend or spouse who continues to relapse, and she ends up getting him to come home. She’s miserable and falls back into bad old habits, and that compels him to head back to her to save the day.”
Even though Kennedy writes all the lyrics for their songs, Slash told us a while back that he sometimes influences what the singer comes up with: “A lot of the songs that end up on the record stem from random conversations that Myles and I have had. So it’s an interesting thing — I could very casually be talking to him about something that means something to me or vice versa, or both of us, and next thing you know, it becomes a lyric.”
Living The Dream is Slash’s fourth solo album and third since putting together the Conspirators, which also features drummer Brent Fitz, bassist Todd Kerns and guitarist Frank Sidoris. The group’s North American headlining tour begins September 13th in Los Angeles, visiting 20 major cities before ending on October 14th in Sacramento.
I don’t know @ddlovato; but, I know the struggle. I hope that she comes out of this wake up call woke. And, for those who also struggle, you are not alone. You are also strong enough to beat this if that is what you want to do. No time like today to change life for the better.

Five Finger Death Punch bassist Chris Kael has weighed in on the situation involving pop singer and actress Demi Lovato, who was hospitalized on Tuesday (July 24th) as the result an apparent drug overdose. Kael wrote on Twitter, “I hope that she comes out of this wake up call woke.”
Kael, who has been in recovery himself for the past year, added, “For those who also struggle, you are not alone. You are also strong enough to beat this if that is what you want to do. No time like today to change life for the better.”
Back in April, Kael revealed to the public that he was 57 days sober. At the time, he wrote, “I do this solely for myself. A great byproduct is to also show to any of you struggling that you too can do it.” Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody also got sober earlier this year, making guitarist Zoltan Bathory the only one of the band’s five members who has not been to rehab.
Drummer Jeremy Spencer, who’s been sober for several years, told us that the change in his own life has been dramatic: “I feel great every day when I wake up and I’m excited to tackle whatever project’s in front of me. I love it. It’s like achieving goals is the new drug.”
Lovato has had issues with substance abuse in the past, and recently revealed she had relapsed after celebrating six years of sobriety. She recently released a new song called “Sober,” apologizing for her lapse.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has gone ahead and recorded the odd musical experiment he’s been talking about in recent interviews, a 25-minute instrumental piece recorded live in which Grohl played every instrument and literally ran from one instrument to the next.
Grohl revealed in an interview with the Chicago Tribune that not only did he record the track, but filmed the entire thing. Grohl said about the project, “When people would ask me, ‘Why are you doing this?’ I’m always like, ‘I don’t know. Because I’ve never done it before?’”
He added, “It’s just the challenge of doing something new. That becomes your engine after a while. Because the last thing you want to get caught in is extreme monotony. So you try to jam every show a little bit differently and you try to make your albums a little bit differently.”
The Foos are in the midst of a lengthy North American tour in support of their 2017 album, Concrete And Gold. The band next plays in Noblesville, Indiana tonight.
Finally, we’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momson! Have a great day to all!
