Good morning Radicals! Here’s some fresh music news to start your day:
A Canadian journalist claims that AC/DC members Stevie Young, Phil Rudd, and Axl Rose were spotted in downtown Vancouver. In his blog he noted that his sources chatted with them and speculated that they may be recording.
He wrote: “Maybe it’s just a coincidence that Rudd and the younger Young were spotted today in the city where AC/DC recorded its last three albums. Maybe they just travelled over from Australia for a little vacay or something. But it’s also possible that they were laying down tracks for the next AC/DC album at the same location (Gastown’s Warehouse Studio) with the same engineer-mixer (Langley’s Mike Frasier) as the last three times.”
Earlier this year, drummer Chris Slade was asked about whether or not AC/DC planned to record a new studio album with Axl Rose and he said, “My lips are sealed. And if I knew, I couldn’t say a word anyway.”
Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has announced a solo headlining tour that will kick off in October.
Shinoda stated, “Listening to a recorded song is not the same as experiencing that song live on stage. Similarly, seeing a painting in an album or book is not the same as seeing the original, in person. In sharing a live experience with you, my hope is to inspire questions, answers, and reflection — not only about my story, but about your own. The search for meaning is boundless, and art is often one of our best vehicles.”
Most shows will be in the U.S. but his tour starts in Canada. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 10.
Frontman Billy Corgan says that bassist D’arcy Wretzky will never return to Smashing Pumpkins.
In a radio interview, Corgan commented about all the recent reunion drama and said, “We spent two years trying to rebuild the bridge with her and at the end of the day, she chose not to be involved. We made every effort to involve her, including offering her the ability that she does not even have to be on the tour. She could show up at any time, she could play as much as she wanted to play.”
Corgan went on to say, “She insisted that even though she hasn’t been on stage in 19 years, that she should play every song… And we were like, ‘This is just an unrealistic thing for somebody who hasn’t been on stage for 19 years – to expect you to play a three-hour show.’”
In the end, Corgan said, “It was like a game of chicken and eventually, we called her bluff and we made a decision to move on.”

Korn’s Jonathan Davis has announced that he will continue another leg of his U.S. tour this fall. The next round of dates kicks off October 6 in El Paso, Texas and will include festival stops at the Aftershock Festival and the Freakers Ball. The tour will wrap November 10 in Lexington, Kentucky.
In recent shows, the Korn vocalist has been spotlighting his new album, primarily focusing on his solo material.
Named after his solo debut disc, The Black Labyrinth tour will feature opening acts The Birthday Massacre and Julien-K.
In other Jonathan Davis News: Earlier this year, Davis voiced his support for the idea of doing what he calls “a really dark musical.” “A long time ago, I was talking to Clive Barker about doing a dark, (F***ed-up) musical, but people get busy and it didn’t happen,” said the singer, adding, “It’s definitely on my bucket list to do a really dark, metal musical – not some stupid-(a**) one.”
Finally, we’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch, Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, and Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta!
