Great way to kick off the week, new music from Avenged Sevenfold! They teased us over the weekend, and the whole track is now here. It was recorded for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4! A7X fans know this isn’t the first song the band has recorded for the Call of Duty franchise: the included the song “Carry On” in CoD: Black Ops 2.
Five Finger Death Punch has released the music video for the song “When The Seasons Change.” The clip is dedicated to police officers and first responders around the world, in particular U.S. Army veteran and Las Vegas police officer Charleston Hartfield, who lost his life in the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting when he used his own body to shield and save others from the hail of bullets.
Five Finger Death Punch has long supported veteran and law enforcement entities, recently donating some $95,000 of the ticket sales from its summer North American tour to Concerns Of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), whose mission is rebuilding shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line of duty deaths, through partnerships with law enforcement and the community.
Singer Ivan Moody told us that he wrote the lyrics to “When The Seasons Change” about his daughters: “That song was actually written about two of my children. One of them is my eldest, and one of them is my youngest. And they both are beautiful women, but on different paths entirely. That’s what ‘Seasons Change’ is about — just the things that come in day-to-day life for them. So ‘Seasons Change’ was very personal. I love that song.”
“When The Seasons Change” is taken from the latest Five Finger Death Punch Album, And Justice For None, which arrived last May. The band will launch another leg of its co-headlining run with Breaking Benjamin later this fall.
Nine Inch Nails performed its 1992 EP Broken in its entirety during the kickoff concert of the band’s “Cold and Black and Infinite” tour at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix. The group kicked off the 22-song set with the EP from front to back, including the Grammy-winning “Happiness In Slavery,” which has not been performed live since December 1995.
Other tracks from Broken, including “Last” and a cover of Adam & The Ants‘ “Physical (You’re So)” also received their first live airing in nearly a decade. The show also included classic like “March Of The Pigs,” “Head Like A Hole” and “Hurt.”
Nine Inch Nails is touring in support of Bad Witch, the third in a trio of EPs that included 2017’s Add Violence and 2016’s Not The Actual Events. The trek next stops at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado on Tuesday (September 18th).
Nine Inch Nails members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recently composed the score for Mid90s, a new film coming out later this year that will mark the directing debut of actor Jonah Hill. They are also scoring a film called Waves from director Trey Edward Shults. The pair previously collaborated on acclaimed, award-winning scores forThe Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Patriots Day and Before The Flood, as well as Ken Burns’ series The Vietnam War.
The Smashing Pumpkins will release a new album titled Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun on November 16th through frontman William Corgan‘s own Martha’s Music label. The eight-song LP is the band’s first in over 18 years to feature founding members Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, along with longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
The band has also released the second single from the album, called “Silvery Sometime (Ghosts),” along with a lyric video for the track. A full music video has just been shot and will arrive soon. The new cut follows up the first song issued from the record, “Solara.”
Other tracks on the disc include “Knights Of Malta,” “Travels,” “Alienation,” “Marchin’ On,” “With Sympathy” and “Seek And You Shall Destroy.”
Last week the Pumpkins wrapped their “Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour,” which sold over 300,000 tickets across North America and the first in nearly two decades to feature Corgan, Chamberlin and Iha, alongside Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates and keyboardist Katie Cole. European dates are on deck for later this fall, as well as a special 30th anniversary performance in the band’s hometown of Chicago.
Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan has revealed to the Des Moines Register that the band is working on an 10th anniversary reissue of its fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, that will feature bonus material. Crahan also hinted that the band is planning a potential 20th anniversary celebration for its 1999 major label debut. While he used to look at anniversary projects with disdain, Crahan admitted, “Now I can look at it and go, ‘Wow. The fans need to see this.’”
