Good morning Radicals! Let’s get started on today’s music news:
Korn will headline at this year’s Rocklahoma festival, stepping in for Ozzy Osbourne. As previously reported, Ozzy was forced to postpone all of his 2019 tour dates and cancel festival appearances after taking a fall at home last month, which aggravated injuries he sustained in an ATV accident back in 2003 and required surgery.
Rocklahoma is scheduled for May 24th through the 26th at the “Catch The Fever” Festival Grounds in Pryor, Oklahoma, just outside Tulsa. Korn will headline the bill on Saturday, May 25th. This year’s lineup also includes Disturbed, Shinedown, Bad Wolves, In This Moment, Seether, Bush, Asking Alexandria, Black Stone Cherry, Buckcherry, Pop Evil, Beartooth, Avatar and many more.
Fans who purchased a single-day pass for Saturday, May 25th, the night Ozzy was scheduled to perform, have the option to exchange that ticket for a Friday or Sunday pass, if they choose not to attend on Saturday. For additional information, visit the festival’s official website at Rocklahoma.com.
The postponed leg of Ozzy’s “No More Tours 2” North American trek has been rescheduled and will now kick off on May 27th, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia, and run through July 31st, 2020 in Las Vegas. Korn, meanwhile, will embark on a co-headlining tour with Alice In Chains beginning July 18th in Del Valle, Texas.
Asking Alexandria frontman Danny Worsnop will release a new solo album titled Shades Of Blue on May 10th. The official music video for the latest single from the disc, “Best Bad Habit,” is now online. The 11-song collection veers away from the heavy rock that Worsnop is known for with his band and instead is an exploration of the blues.
Worsnop will hit the road next month for a 24-date headlining tour of the U.S., beginning on May 7th in Nashville.
Asking Alexandria, meanwhile, has been working on its sixth studio effort. The disc will follow up 2017’s self-titled LP, which marked Worsnop’s return to the band after he left in 2015 to focus on his side act, We Are Harlot.
The Asking Alexandria album featured the hit singles “Into The Fire” and “Alone In A Room,” the latter of which cracked the Top 10 on the rock radio airplay chart.
Bay Area legends, Metallica, have done their share of giving back as of late. Tom (who is a Metallica fanatic) has a rare condition called ‘Fragile X Syndrome.’ A YouTube series called Real Stories has published a clip following Tom getting a memorable surprise from his siblings by meeting his hero, which is none other than Metallica’s own Lars Ulrich. The legendary drummer made Tom’s dreams come true as he treated him like another member of the Metallica family. (Thanks Metal Insider!)
Ice Nine Kills are the latest recipient of being banned from performing at the Disney-affiliated House Of Blues location in Orlando, FL. The horror loving band have decided to celebrate the ban with a new line of merch which sports some very familiar looking animated character/horror film mashups. The line has already sold out, but you can keep an eye on tooevilforchildren.com.
The band commented of the ban and merch line:
“As many of you know a certain mouse-loving enterprise has deemed us too “evil”, to perform at a certain Orlando venue of theirs. Rather than protest, we are accepting this seemingly misguided assumption with great honor. To celebrate the banishment, we are dedicating our ‘Nightmare on the Ninth’ monthly special to the launch of TooEvilForChildren.com.
Check out our most devilish designs yet, and bask in the darkness of Lucifer, with your favorite horror-loving psychopaths. These shirts are extremely limited and will never be available online again.”
Groups previously banned from the venue for imagery, lyrics and such include Machine Head, Thy Art Is Murder, Warbringer and more. The dates for Ice Nine Kills‘ impending tour with Falling In Reverse, From Ashes To New and New Years Day can be found on the Road Rage page.
Finally, we’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to Dorothy singer Dorothy Martin, and former Bush guitarist Nigel Pulsford! Have a wonderful day, and keep it heavy!
