Well, Slipknot’s getting ready to release something today!
Over the weekend, Slipknot posted a short teaser for a new song that’s included on their next album. On Twitter, you can hear 17 seconds of Corey Taylor singing “We Are Not Your Kind.”
Guitarist Jim Root commented about the song and said, “This is the most time we’ve had to write a record and work stuff out together. While the industry is moving toward singles, Slipknot wanted to make an album experience, front to back.”
According to the clip, the song becomes available in full, today. Monday 7-22. The new album, which was recorded in Los Angeles will be released on August 9.
Foo Fighters have been successful since the 90’s and guitarist Chris Shiflett says it’s more than just the music. In an interview posted on Loudwire.com he stated, “I don’t know that it’s any specific one thing, but I think you have to credit a lot of it to Dave Grohl and his personality. People love that dude. I think he represents something to a lot of people out there. He has that gift that means he can make 80,000 people feel like they’re his best friend.”
He went on to talk about how they consistently put out new music every couple of years and stated. “There’s never been a point where we’ve taken 10 years off because we all F-ing hate each other and have broken up. Or we’ve all gone off and made reggae records, or whatever. We go out on the road and we play. There’s never been a huge diversion from consistently doing the work.”
Foo Fighters next show will be August 13 in Budapest at the Sziget Festival.
Godsmack has released a music video for “Under The Scars.” Frontman, Sully Erna talked about where the idea came from, “This song came to me shortly after I had spent some quality time with someone who I consider a dear friend, and have grown to admire and respect as one of the smartest and most talented artists today, Stephanie Germanotta, who most of you may know as Lady Gaga. In the short amount of time we hung out, she made me realize that we all have these imperfections, these wounds that we carry (whether they’re physical or emotional) that cut so deep they can cripple us.”
He says – it’s the first time Godsmack has decided to put ‘this kind’ of a ballad on an album. As he explained it, “Which was pretty ballsy for us.”
With credit to the song, Erna and the band have now launched The Scars Foundation, a non-profit organization battling everything from severe depression to addiction, bullying, suicide prevention, and more.
Sevendust is just getting started writing for the next album. In a recent radio interview, vocalist Lajon Witherspoon said, “We’ve already had, like, two writing sessions. I really feel like we have some stuff that’s really going to stick on this album.”
He says the band is excited about recording: “We’re definitely happy with what’s going on right now. We’re taking our time and are in no hurry right now, but I think half the album is written.”
Witherspoon also stated, “It’s coming naturally. It’s just us jamming and doing what we do and being the weirdos that we are.”
Sevendust has an upcoming tour with Skillet, Pop Evil, and Devour The Day. It kicks off next month in Memphis, Tennessee.
Well, that’s a wrap for now! Have a great day!
