Good morning Radicals! Had an awesome time last night at the sold out Lacuna Coil show in NYC! Looking forward to having Cristina and Andrea in the studio this afternoon to talk about the upcoming album Black Anima! Let’s take a look at the news this morning:
Five Finger Death Punch has announced a U.S. headlining tour in the fall that will start on November 1st with two special kick-off shows in the band’s hometown of Las Vegas on November 1st and 2nd at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Joining the headliners will be Three Days Grace, Bad Wolves and newcomers Fire From The Gods. General tickets will go on sale this Friday (July 26th) at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Five Finger Death Punch is currently working on its eighth studio LP, and singer Ivan Moody told us the band is taking some chances on this one: “We have our core fan base, and we’re definitely gonna keep it old school, the way we’ve always done. I mean, we love metal, those are our grass roots, you know. But at the end of the day, as artists, we really have to experiment. I mean, I’m a lover of music, so be it not me, you know, to just stamp the black-and-white thing and not take the chance to really do something creative. And I’m really happy at the fact that my guys are in the same headspace.”

Bad Wolves will share a new song called “I’ll Be There” this Friday, July 26th. The track will be available for streaming and download on all digital platforms. It’s taken from the Las Vegas act’s sophomore album, which is due out later this year.
The new disc will follow up the band’s 2018 debut, Disobey, which featured its massive hit cover of the 1993 Cranberries classic “Zombie” as well as another rock radio smash with “Hear Me Now.”
Guitarist Doc Coyle was recently asked by Australian outlet Loud about the sound of the new album, saying, “It’s diverse. There’s stuff that’s probably heavier, as or more heavy than the last record . . . And then there’s some really catchy, kind of more mainstream stuff to cover that end of it, and a lot of stuff in the middle.”
Bad Wolves will head out on tour this fall as guests of Five Finger Death Punch. Also appearing on the bill will be Three Days Grace.
In case you missed it, Breaking Benjamin frontman Benjamin Burnley has told us that the band’s upcoming acoustic album will feature mostly reworked versions of the band’s notable hits, including a couple from last year’s Ember LP, plus one new song. The disc is tentatively due to arrive before the end of the year.
The album will also feature guest vocalists on four of the tracks, including ex-Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm on “Dear Agony,” former Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier on “Dance With The Devil” and Red vocalist Michael Barnes on “Failure.”
Burnley explained how he chose the singers: “These are guys that are all just like friends of mine. So I just was like, ‘How can we put some more of an original spin on this so it’s not just like a remake of things?’ And that’s what I came up with. And I tried to get a couple of more too, but it was like a time thing. These guys, more so than anything, they’re like my friends. That’s what’s cool about it to me.”
Burnley told Music Mayhem last year that Breaking Benjamin will “do a small tour” to promote the acoustic album. The group has just embarked on a summer 2019 North American headlining tour that stops on Wednesday, July 24th in Clarkston Michigan.
Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil told Music Radar in a new interview that he and the other surviving members of the band would like to add their parts to demos that were recorded by late frontman Chris Cornell for a now-abandoned seventh album — if only they could get hold of them.
Thayil explained, “We tried to get this going two years ago, but we’re not in possession of any of the demos that Chris was working on . . . We have copies of them, but what we need are the files, so that we’d be able to overdub and finish the record. We are not in possession of those.”
Asked what would it take for Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd to get access to the tapes, Thayil replied, “We don’t know. We’ve asked nicely, we’ve suggested that this will benefit all parties, if the band could just have these files, and we could finish the songs we were working on. But there seems to be some confusion amongst various parties as to what that would entail and how that works, and who that would benefit.”
Soundgarden was working on a new studio album — the follow-up to 2012’s King Animal — when Cornell committed suicide after a concert in Detroit in May 2017.
As for what the material sounds like, Thayil said, “Interestingly, there’s a psychedelic element . . . we had maybe a couple of sad songs, and a couple of heavy songs that in general feel were — where we were at in the writing process — kind of mixed like King Animal, but a little bit less of the heavy stuff. But it was still interesting, still quirky stuff.”
Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp was asked in an interview with Metal Works whether there’s a chance the band could ever reunite again. Stapp said he and guitarist Mark Tremontirecently spoke at length on the phone, explaining, “Our relationship right now is positive, but as he is, I’m really really just passionate about what I’m doing with my solo career and this new music, and I’m really focused on that, as he is, with his other endeavors . . . right now, there’s nothing to say except relationships are positive, which is always a good thing.”
In honor of the 30th anniversary this week of their 1989 album Paul’s Boutique, the Beastie Boys and Adidas are making available a pair of custom Adidas sneakers. The Adidas Skateboarding x Beastie Boys Americana will be available for sale starting Thursday (July 25th) at select skateboarding shops. The sneakers feature a vegan canvas upper, gum sole, gray cotton jersey liner and the Beastie Boys’ logo stamped on the tongue and liner. It was on the Paul’s Boutique song “Shadrach” that the trio famously rapped that they had “more Adidas sneakers than a plumber’s got pliers.”
Finally, we want to wish a Happy Birthday to Shaman’s Harvest bassist Matt Fischer! Have a great day!
