Good morning Radicals! Here’s what’s up in music news today:
Tool band members are known to be meticulous when it comes to their music and are taking a lot of time between albums. In an interview with Revolver, guitarist Adam Jones said, “I never felt pressure, though. I felt anxiety because they would blame our singer, and it’s not his fault.”
He explained that the bandmembers have families and other projects and interests that have been keeping them busy.
Jones said that the album is finished and stated: “The writing is the same, and that’s the thing I really like about it. We really suffer for our art — which you should do. If it’s worth having, it’s worth suffering for.”
The band’s last album was released in 2006 and the new one, Fear Inoculum will be released on Aug. 30. The physical copy of the album will come with an HD video screen and speakers.

In an interview posted on Blabbermouth, Skillet’s frontman John Cooper said he didn’t realize his music was positive until recently. He laughed and commented: “When you start writing music, you’re not smart enough to know what you’re good at and what you’re bad at. You sing it, and maybe it sucks; maybe it’s good. And people kept saying, ‘Man, it’s really positive music.’ And I was, like, ‘Is it? I don’t know.’”
When asked about the new single, “Legendary,” he said, “It’s about making your life count. You’re only here for a short time. Don’t get to be 80 years old and go, ‘Crap! I never became who I wanted to become.’ Own your life.”
“Legendary” is from Skillet’s album Victorious, which was released on August 2.
SLIPKNOT’s CLOWN Is ‘Ecstatic’ About TORTILLA MAN’s Addition To Band https://t.co/HmajceATVI pic.twitter.com/yqsXZVl7Hu

Tortilla Man joined Slipknot three months ago after the departure of Chris Fehn. And percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan is “ecstatic” about it. He said: “It’s a lot of fun. And it’s just nice that, at this stage of the game, when something like this happens, we can actually get someone who appreciates it and will bring 190 percent.”
Fehn’s departure wasn’t the only change, Crahan also replaced the crew. He said, “I think the world has an expectation that a band can stay together. Health — mental, spiritual — these are all things that get alleviated as you go on. Things change. And we’re not really good with change, but we’re really good with picking up the pieces and getting to work.
Slipknot’s sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9.
Finally, we want to wish a Happy Birthday to Randy Mathias of Stitched Up Heart! Have a great day!
