Good morning Radicals! Let’s dive into this morning’s music news:
Korn will play a virtual concert tonight in the games Adventure Quest Worlds & Adventure Quest 3D. The band’s performance will mark the grand opening of the Battle Concert Arena, which, presumably, will hold more concerts in the future.This is part of the band’s promotion of their upcoming album “The Nothing,” arriving September 13th. The game is free, and the event is free, so no reason you can’t check it out. The band says they’ll be playing at least one new song during the set.
It’s been two years since Foo Fighters released their #1 album, Concrete and Gold and according to drummer, Taylor Hawkins, they may be ready for another one soon. In an interview on Loudwire, he said, “From what I’ve heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he’s worked on. I think we’ll start once this tour is over, this little UK-ish run…I think not too soon after that, we’ll start the process of putting the songs together as a band.”
The tour he was referring to wraps up this week in Ireland.
Tom Maxwell, guitarist for Hellyeah says that Vinnie Paul Abbott was “always worried” that his life would end prematurely.
From an interview posted on Blabbermouth.net, Maxwell said, “Every time there was a death from one of our peers — the Cornell’s and everybody — he was always pretty taken aback by it. He was always worried that it was gonna happen to him. And he was always constantly checking his blood pressure. I just wish he would have gone to the doctor sooner.”
Vinnie Paul died in his sleep on June of 2018 at the age of 54. The official cause of death was dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease.
Vinnie Paul recorded a total of six albums with Hellyeah over the past decade. The band’s next album, Welcome Home, will include his final recordings. It comes out September 27.
Offspring and Sum 41 are teaming up for a Canadian tour that kicks off November 12 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pre-sales start today (Tuesday 8-20) and tickets will go on-sale to the public this Friday.
This year marks two important milestones for the Southern California-based group, Offspring. This year is the 35th anniversary of their formation and the 25th anniversary of the band’s 1994’s landmark album, Smash. They’re currently wrapping up production on a new album, which will be the band’s first in seven years.
Sum 41 is celebrating the chart success of their most recent release, Order In Decline, and have locked in spots at #2 on the Top 200, #1 in Rock, and #1 in Hard Music on the Canadian Albumcharts.
The Offspring with Sum 41 Tour will run through early December.
In honor of World Humanitarian Day, (on Monday 8-19) Three Days Grace released their video for the Kenya Project, part of a social justice initiative created by the band. In a press release, drummer, Neil Sanderson stated: “We were inspired everywhere we went and by everyone we met, because – what we experienced isn’t what we thought it would be. I learned that poverty is not hopelessness. Hope is around every corner, sometimes you just have to look for it.”
The project protects Kenyan children from violence and provides them with clean water to ensure they are both safe and healthy. On their 2018 Canadian Fall tour, $1 from every ticket sale went towards this project.
The band is currently on tour with Breaking Benjamin.
