Good morning Radicals! We all hope you’re doing well, and had lovely weekends. We’re gearing up to celebrate the release of Lou Brutus’ book “Sonic Warrior: My Life as a Rock n Roll Reprobate” tomorrow! How exciting! Now, let’s see what the world of rock and roll is up to…
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is spending his ‘safer at home’ time with his family. They’re waiting out the Coronavirus by playing a lot of board games.
Over the weekend, Ulrich posted a selfie on Instagram of him along with his wife and 3 sons sitting around a Ludo board game, and he wrote: “Quarantine Ludo Party #wanna.”
Metallica has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when the band canceled an Australian tour and announced that frontman James Hetfield was returning to rehab for the first time since 2002 to battle his addictions.
Last month, the band announced that its South American tour, which was originally planned for April, has been postponed until December.
Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose has been outspoken in the past about politicians And over the weekend, he blasted Kentucky Senator Rand Paul for criticizing the measures the state is putting in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Here’s what happened… Governor Andy Beshear warned Kentuckians that they would be forced to self-quarantine for 14 days if they attended in-person Easter church services due to the risk of the spread of the coronavirus. In response, Senator Rand Paul posted this comment: “Taking license plates at church? Quarantining someone for being Christian on Easter Sunday? Someone needs to take a step back here.”
In response, Axl Rose fired back… “Step bk? As usual Rand Paul needs to step off.” This was the first time Axl Rose had posted online since February.
Senator Paul was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago and was critized by other senators when they had to go into quarantine because he had not told them he had been tested.

David Draiman has been getting a lot of praise for his vocal performance on Disturbed’s version of “The Sound of Silence.”
This weekend, he swapped tweets with Russell Crowe. Referring to a new fan-created music video focusing on the pandemic, the Oscar-winning actor tweeted: “Perhaps the greatest rock vocal ever.” And the band returned with a simple “Thank you Russell Crowe” and included a prayer emoji.
This isn’t the first time Crowe has inserted his comments about the track. Back in 2016, he stated: “Every now and then someone comes along and redefines genius.”
Disturbed’s studio version of “The Sound of Silence” went to #1 on the Billboard Hard Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and became the band’s highest-charting single ever on the Top 100 . It’s from their sixth studio album, Immortalized, which was released in 2015.
Slipknot is releasing weekly concerts online and that includes their portion of the Knotfest Roadshow in full. The hour and a half concert features 16 songs and is posted on Twitter.
And just like being there… you can also purchase merch items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants. 10% of the profits are being donated to COVID-19 relief charities. The items are available from SlipknotMerch.com.
Skillet has launched a video game called Save Me. It’s themed with the band’s latest active rock track and music video of the same name. In the game, each of the bandmembers (John, Korey, Jen and Seth) are characters that fans can select and play as. Once a character is selected, the characters run through a maze where players are meant to avoid various aspects seen in the “Save Me” music video.
Last week Skillet premiered the music video for “Save Me” on the band’s YouTube channel, and hosted a question-and-answer session with over 10,000 fans. The video has already garnered a million views.
