Wow! Lou Brutus just revealed he had a conversation with his long lost friend Louise Post from Veruca Salt. (For those just joining us, back in the early to mid 90’s, before his love for Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, he was the # 1 Veruca Salt GROUPIE in the WORLD! hee hee!) So apparently, Louise and Nina Gordon are reuniting for the 20th anniversary of the band’s American Thighs album next year with a new record and tour. Love this news. Wonder if Seether‘s cover song of their 1994 tune “Seether” sparked them to get back together? But whatever it is, it’s great to hear….Had dinner last night with Jonny Hetherington and his wife here in NYC. Turns out Art of Dying has signed a record contract and are planning to hit the studio in January. Meanwhile, the couple are world travelers heading to Barcelona next. Lucky kids!….Hellyeah has posted a short video clip online from the recording sessions for the band’s fourth studio album. According to Blabbermouth, the disc is being recorded at the Hideout Studio in Las Vegas, marking the first time that the group has recorded outside the Dallas home studio of drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. Hellyeah has enlisted Ozzy Osbourne producer Kevin Churko to produce the new CD after doing the last three themselves. Abbott explained in a recent interview, “We produced our last three albums ourselves, and we really feel like we did a good job on all that. But we feel it’s time to have an outside ear, somebody to give us an extra opinion; to be the sixth member of the band, so to speak. That extra dude that drags everything out of you.”….My ole friend Wayne Isham directed the new music video for Avenged Sevenfold‘s “Shepherd Of Fire.” Check it out….Kirk Hammett of Metallica commented to Nikki Blakk of San Francisco radio station The Bone about their upcoming promotional appearance at the South Pole in December sponsored by Coca Cola Zero. “We are playing Antarctica; it’s pretty wacky. It’s crazy, because I don’t deal with cold very well, so I have my reservations. But it should be pretty cool, because we’ve played the North Pole before — we’ve played Tuktoyaktuk [in 1995]— so we have to play the South Pole. Tuktoyaktuk was fine; it wasn’t as cold as it sounded. But I have a feeling that the Antarctica is a lot colder than the North Pole. And it should be an interesting experience.” Lou Brutus was at the North Pole show. He said it was awesome! …..Happy 45th today to Greg Tribbett of HellYeah and Happy 42nd to Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck.
