Last night I got to attend the music video shoot for a new band out of London called H2NY. Their forthcoming single is called “Bleed” and the video was filmed at Arlene’s Grocery, a small club on the lower east side of Manhattan. The clip was filmed and directed by the legendary director Wayne Isham. Look him up on Google, but some of his great clips include Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” Metallica concert films, Motley Crue’s “Girls Girls Girls” (I was at that shoot. Was weird watching the wives of the band watch their husbands watch other girls strip!), Foo Fighters “These Days,” and more recently Avenged Sevenfold’s “Shepherd of Fire.” Wayne’s a cool dude. Anyhow, the clip will be a live performance and might include some cellphone footage I shot! ;>….In other news, Shinedown frontman Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myersrelease a new digital EP called (Acoustic Sessions) today (Jan 28th) under the name Smith & Myers. The disc consists of six cover songs and Smith explained how they settled on the tracks: “We wanted to give the fans the opportunity to — any song that they could think of, that they wanted to hear me and Zach cover, just let us have it. So we put it up on Facebook that it was called ’10 songs in 10 days,’ and so we said, ‘Submit any song.’ So after we did that, we had the 10 songs, and then we went in and we recorded all 10 of them and filmed it as well. We did it over the course of two days. Although the duo recorded and filmed six performances, four — of songs by Bon Jovi,Pearl Jam, Phil Collins and Adele — did not make the final collection as the artists did not give permission to release the videos online. The songs themselves will likely be re-recorded and released later this year. The final selection was chosen from thousands of submissions by fans and narrowed down through daily voting on Facebook. The EP will be released through iTunes and all leading digital retailers. It includes covers of theClash‘s “London Calling,” Metallica‘s “Nothing Else Matters,” Otis Redding‘s “Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay,” the Black Crowes‘ “She Talks to Angels,” Soul Asylum‘s “Runaway Train” and Kenny Wayne Shepherd‘s “Blue on Black” featuring Shepherd himself….News out of SnoCore says The Pretty Reckless were forced to pull out of the SnoCore run due to unspecified illness. The band is looking to reschedule dates in April/May around spring/summer festivals. Unclear if the rebranded shows will be rebranded as SnoCore or not (doubtful since winter will be over!) Too bad!…Lars Ulrich was on the Grammy Red Carpet and said the next Metallica album won’t be out in 2014. And Corey Taylor told Lou Brutus the next Slipknot record may or may not be ready this year depending on how it comes along. One record we do believe will be out this year is Foo Fighters‘. Have a great day!
