Woo boy, busy ole day again today in the hardDrive cubicle! Two, count ’em, TWO phoners today. One with Oli Sykes, frontman for UK’s Bring Me the Horizon and the other is the very cool John Cooper of Skillet! So let’s get down to the nitty gritty, shall we?…Metallica‘s upcoming 3D feature film, Metallica Through The Never, will now come out on September 27th and not August 9th as originally announced. The film will be digitally remastered into IMAX 3D and play for one week exclusively in IMAX theaters in North America before expanding into additional theaters on October 4th. The film stars the band, thousands of its fans and acclaimed young actor Dane DeHaan in a story that follows a member of Metallica’s road crew — played by DeHaan — who is sent on a mission during the band’s concert that turns his life upside down. Drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement, “IMAX! It doesn’t get bigger or cooler than that! For four guys in a rock band of average height, to get a chance to unleash their 3D film on IMAX screens the size of buildings across the country is a mind-blowing thought . . . this should amount to an unprecedented, unique and truly next level experience.” I just saw Dane in the new Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper film The Place Beyond the Pines, which filmed in upstate NY’s Schenectady and outlying areas near where I am from. Cool. He’s only 27 and he’s really good…..Congrats to Fall Out Boy! They were pretty much left for dead back in 2009 when the emo-rock act announced it was going on “indefinite hiatus,” but the quartet has come back in a big way: its fifth studio album, Save Rock And Roll, debuted at Number One on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (April 24th), selling 154,000 copies in its first week of release. That’s the third biggest sales week ever for the Chicago-based group and its second Number One debut after 2007’s Infinity On High. Save Rock And Roll features guest appearances from Elton John, Courtney Love and Louisa Rose Allen, the singer also known as Foxes, among others. See you can come back after Ashley Simpson after all….People, stop taking things so damn seriously! Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell reassured fans that the band is not breaking up following the release of its new album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. After Cantrell told Fuse that he looks at every new record “like it’s your last” and that he could “rest happily with this being the last record, if that’s what it was,” the usual onslaught of hysterical “is this the end of Alice” headlines erupted online. But Cantrell has cleared the air, telling Billboard. “What I said was, I approach every record as if it were my last, trying to make it the best record it can be. That’s what I meant.” Although there are fans who are not interested in hearing anything by this version of Alice In Chains, Cantrell said, “I don’t do this for what people tell me I should do with my life, or my band. I do what I want to do and what my band wants to do. And we continue to do that.” I mean, come on! If you took to heart what half of the things rock stars say, I would say you were a pushover! Oh WAIT, that’s ME!…..When you are in a band made up of 9 members and only three of them are working regularly, the other 6 guys need to pay the bills too! Guess Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison is tired of waiting around for singer Corey Taylor & Jim Root to come back to the band and start writing a new album, since Jordison has gone ahead and launched a new musical project. According to Loudwire, Jordison revealed via his Facebook page he’s been working on a new musical venture, although he did not offer up any further details. He did. however. post a few photos taken in the studio while recording. Jordison has done side projects before, most notably the band Murderdolls. He has also been a touring drummer for Korn, Rob Zombie and Ministry. We asked Jordison if playing with many different acts has helped him stay focused while Slipknot is dormant: “Absolutely, man. It totally does. Me being in Ministry and Korn and Zombie, all that stuff, you know, it’s like, I like to project myself into a lot of different elements because I love music and music is my life and it’s my lifeblood.” As I look into my crystal ball, I see the numbers 2015 and I see this as the year of Slipknot’s full return. Stay tuned…..3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell was released from a Tennessee jail on Tuesday (April 23rd) after paying his $100,000 bond. Harrell has been behind bars since last Friday night (April 19th) after he hit a pickup truck with his Cadillac on a Nashville highway, sending the truck down an embankment and killing the driver. Harrell, who was allegedly under the influence and speeding, was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and bringing a controlled substance into the jail, after additional pills were found hidden in his sock. Harrell is due in court this Thursday (April 25th), while he also has a court date at the end of May stemming from a 2012 DUI charge. (Associated Press)…Rob Zombie‘s fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, is likely to sell between 27,000 and 32,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on Tuesday (April 23rd). Zombie’s previous effort, 2010’s Hellbilly Deluxe 2, debuted at Number Eight on the Billboard album chart, selling 49,000 copies in its first week in stores. (Hits Daily Double)…A dedicated group of Pearl Jam fans is assembling To Pearl Jam With Love, a book consisting of stories, letters, thank-you notes, and tributes directed toward or based around the Seattle band. The project’s organizers are seeking input and contributions from fans, with a current contest for submissions open until Saturday (April 27th). A statement at the book’s website said that the book will be “about the sharing of moving and inspirational stories and memories, each unique, but at the same time connected to the band and their music . . . stories from everyday fans, fellow musicians, collaborators and those who have experienced firsthand the generosity that seems to flow unending from this band.” (Loudwire)….Happy 73rd to Al “Say Hello to My Little Friend” Pacino!
